Muppets Now – The Muppet Show We Need Now

It’s time to stay connected! It’s time for me to write! It’s time for us to talk about a new muppet show tonight [25] [32]! I remember my family owning a copy of The Very Best of the Muppet Show: Volume 1 on VHS when I was a young child in the early 2000s [19]. As a young adult, I remember my wonderful boyfriend trying to draw a gorilla holding a banana on either Drawful or Drawful 2 [11] [12]. But to me, it ended up looking like Kermit the Frog holding a boomerang. While many fans of Jim Henson’s work are treating themselves with Fraggle Rock: Rock On [2], I am pleasantly surprised at how there will be a brand new adaption of The Muppets in Summer 2020 [6] [17] [37]. Its title “Muppets Now” sounds quite fitting as it will be around for old school fans and new and younger fans of the franchise in this new decade, even though it will not age well when the next adaption arrives in another era. Muppets Now shall be available to be viewed only on Disney+ [37], the Disney counterpart of Netflix that still seems to be developing its legacy as a streaming service for our fellow Disney desirers [27].

Fraggle Rock: Rock On [30]!

Accordingly, there will be only six episodes of Muppets Now to be shown on Disney+ [17], thus elaborating on the crew’s lives as a possibly a reboot of the franchise. That total may not seem like much to plenty of us, but I believe that the quality is more important than quantity when it comes to establishing a new series. I am looking at you, newer seasons of The Simpsons [3] [42]. If all six episodes receive positive acclaim from Muppet fans after this July, I am sure that there will be a few more for a second season of Muppets Now next year or two. It worked for the first season of the cartoon on Netflix based on the classic children’s book, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, right [40] [41]? That masterpiece of a cartoon consisted of thirteen episodes in late 2019 and will provide ten more in its second season later this year [20] [40] [41]. If you admire that cartoon for its positive qualities too, I guess I made myself very clear. As for Muppets Now, six episodes of a new web television series may not seem much quantity, but there will be some strong hope for outstanding quality.

Only six episodes? At least that will be something rather than nothing. [17]

I will be up for a second season of Muppets Now if its two trios of episodes become a critical acclaim. [17]

It is highly likely that Muppets Now will remain consistent with what made the franchise iconic in the first place, such as outstanding humour and a few musical numbers [5] [7] [21] 25] [26] [35]. An upcoming television show that will firstly air in July 2020 is Kamp Koral, a spin-off of Spongebob Squarepants that will take place in the childhood of a certain yellow sponge of joy [9]. Even though it will officially not air until this July, it has received backlash for how its premise greatly contradicts the times he met the other iconic characters in the first season of the main show [13]. Despite that, the spin-off’s premise may seem to be taking place in an alternate timeline in a similar way The Flintstones Kids probably did [24]. But since Summer 2019, Kamp Koral has also been heavily criticized by many Spongebob fans for disrespecting the requests of Stephen Hillenburg, the main show’s creator who passed away in 2018 in a rather money-hungry and deplorable way [9] [10] [36]. Luckily for fans of the Muppets, Muppets Now is highly likely to refrain from causing several contradictions and disrespect towards Jim Henson’s intentions. Just look at the highly promising posters that show the characters in their recognisable and timeless designs [6] [17] [37].

I really wish Kamp Koral was not being produced under rather disrespectful deeds at Nickelodeon [36]. [9]

At least we may get to see what will truly honour Jim Henson’s legacy in Muppets Now. [17]

Muppets Now ought to portray the cast of Muppets in faithful and joyful ways. Kermit and Miss Piggy are just so lovely together [8]. I shall not doubt that the glamourous blonde-haired pig may have at least one moment of demonstrating her skills in martial arts by the name of female empowerment [31]. As for our lovable green frog, I can imagine him strumming on his banjo once again in at least one episode of Muppet Now [1]. In a spectacular fourth-wall-breaking song in Muppets Most Wanted, the Great Gonzo predicted the future by stating that we were waiting for Tom Hanks to play the role of Woody once again in Toy Story 4 [4] [5] [34]. Furthermore, can he and Fozzie Bear entertain new viewers in Muppets Now like how they entertained older viewers when Fozzie tried to recite a poem by Robert Frost [14] [18]? And yes, Muppets Now ought to also feature some cynical remarks from Statler and Waldorf [26]. With the entire cast casually in character, Muppets Now should be as faithful and timelessly enjoyable as the most recent seasons of Sesame Street that introduced new characters, such as an autistic muppet named “Julia” and a muppet in foster care named “Karli” [15] [16] [22] [23].

Let us also hope for some wild drumming from Animal [21]. [17]

The premise of two foster parents caring for a foster child is so respectfully portrayed in an episode of today’s Sesame Street. I almost teared up when the characters were singing a heartwarming song about knowing that you at least belong somewhere in the world. [23]

First we get to rock on with the fraggles down at Fraggle Rock in Fraggle Rock: Rock On, then we get to experience some brand new adventures with the Looney Tunes on HBO Max [38] [39], now we are looking forward to six new adventures with the Muppets [6] [17] [37]. There is absolutely nothing wrong with rehashing the past during some current times, especially when the current times just seem too much to handle [33]. I strongly support new adaptions of cartoons and such from our childhoods that are highly faithful to what made them iconic and memorable back in those days. And of course, I am fine with some alterations that will make them seem at least fresh on their own accords, especially to a newer and younger audience. It feels like half of our proactivity has been taken away from plenty of us during this coronavirus pandemic and many of us have no choice, but to get a sweet dose of nostalgia as a reminder of those good old days, including a revival of a classic television show, such as The Muppet Show [25] [33]. If any of you are feeling that way, I know exactly how you feel and I completely understand.

And speaking of browsing nostalgia at such a devastating time, the upcoming film titled “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” could be a real treat for the late 2000s kids who adored watching the original cartoon about two inventive boys driving their sister insane [28]. [29]

Will this be sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational?
