Deadpool’s Nerdy Thirtieth Anniversary Blooms Like A Rose (Feat. Deadpool)

Conker the Squirrel is not the only king celebrating a special anniversary in 2021 [62] [63]. During the beginning of the thirtieth anniversary of a Canadian mercenary who hides his trauma behind humour [66], we have encountered a panda known as “Sugar Panda” who was created from HighKey and is currently voiced by Ryan Reynolds [64] [65] [67]. 2021 also marks the 30th anniversary of Domino, his debut buddy who has the power to manipulate luck [23] [99]. Since he has wished others a happy birthday before by the name of “Deadpool” [10] [16], it is about time we return the favour. The celebration ought to last until the 21st of November 2021 since his star sign is Scorpio [44]. Speaking of the 21st, I got a Deadpool plushie for my birthday back in March [51] [91], along with a jade facial roller from Lacura! Get ready for even more theories on the development of Deadpool 3 as we sink our teeth into some more Nerdy 30 celebrations like how Mr. Wilson would sink his teeth into a taco, even after playing chess [29]. As always, bring on the sledgehammer for the fourth wall as they put on their Deadpool T-shirts, Wade [32]!

“My ears are burning! #FollowUpArticle! I knew Laura would be motivated to write another article about her favourite manly mutate after I gave her a reiki energy cleanse [86]. You bet I also gave her a little shoulder massage [99].” [43]
“Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that I also read a bedtime story to her. It was about a character she cosplayed as one time suddenly dying whilst on her period [84] [95] [102]. I warned her to not think of me on Valentine’s Day [58], but I knew it has become difficult ever since the success of my first movie [17]. Break a leg, Laura! But not literally! That’s more of Daddy’s thing when he needs to express some rage!” [17]

The celebration of Deadpool’s Nerdy 30 began with a live virtual event back in February [37], which required staying at home due to the coronavirus pandemic not being quite over yet. During the event, fans of the merc classed as Marvel Unlimited Annual Pass Members who participated in the event got to hear aspects of his history and such from Rob Liefield [40], his creator, along with:

  • Daniel Way
  • Brian Posehn
  • Ed McGuinness
  • Fabian Nicieza
  • Mike Hawthrone
  • Gail Simone
  • Garry Buggan
  • Joe Kelly

It was cool how there was a pack of goodies for some members who received an exclusive limited edition, including an action figure of Ms. Marvel in a Spider-Man dress [40]. I sure miss these kinds of events at conventions, such as Comic Con. But if we do our best to defeat the coronavirus pandemic, we might be able to travel to conventions again, especially for cosplaying and buying some rather rare merchandise [20]. But in the meantime, some of us may get a taste of an audiobook adaption of Cooking With Deadpool as Michael John Casey did a great job at voicing the merc for the audiobook adaption of Deadpool: Paws [15].

“Thank Marvel you didn’t show up during the event, Laura. The guests would have been like, “What drugs is she on?” if they heard you suggesting who should voice me.” [40]

There are Deadpool Nerdy 30 comic book cover variants in association with the big celebration [28] [43]. This is highly similar to how there are some variants of special comic book covers associated with Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary from IDW Publishing and not to mention an expansion on the special “Deadpool” editions of various comic book covers starring other Marvel heroes [31] [88]. Two of the Nerdy 30 covers that feature Wade celebrating thirty years of his legacy sure being the vibes of the birthday scene in Sonic Generations [28] [39] [68]. The other one shows him standing out from the crowd of other iconic Marvel heroes, along with four alternate versions of himself, who are:

  • Lady Deadpool
  • Dogpool
  • Venompool

Surely Wade was quick to mock during the 10th anniversary of Marvel Studios [1], but he still deserves to relish gleefully in his Nerdy 30th.  After all, he has helped keep my mental health in check throughout 2020 and 2021 so far [69] [99]. Deadpool Nerdy 30 was released back in March, making comic book readers tune into the fun [41] [43]. Some readers could describe his voice as gravelly with a Demi Moore vibe [44], but again, his yellow speech bubbles are part of his individuality [18]. Furthermore, I am the most used to Ryan Reynolds as the manly mutate [22] [23].

“Still fond of Ryan Reynolds, Laura? Someone must be blushing under thick layers of foundation. These covers are way past cool, aren’t they?” [43]
“There are some other variants of Deadpool Nerdy 30: Volume One, including this one. Choose wisely, grasshoppers!” [43]

April Fool’s Day became “April Pool’s Day” with some surprisingly genuine new merchandise [53]. The following items from Mondo include:

  • A poster the features him in the art style from the credits of his first movie
  • A Deadpool edition of Unmatched
  • A Headpool Enamel pin

The style of the Headpool pin is quite gothic due to the lack of flesh on his face, but quirky at the same time as he is wearing a propeller hat for flying. I really like how the poster features the art style of the credit sequence of his first successful movie as it is a great reminder of that. But if you thought all this new merchandise was quirky, you should check out the awesome artwork of Deadpool partially cosplaying as Captain America by David Nakayama [54], along with a special promo pack from Postmates [12]. The container is shaped like a carrypack for food and is designed to resemble a taco truck, making it easy to carry around and rather creative. I sure hope Bob the Hydra Agent is fine after that little “incident” that occurred between Wade and me during April Pool’s Day [93].

“Nothing like another list of bullet points from one of my babies in another paragraph! You’re very welcome, reader.” [53]
“My boy Headpool makes a great Vice President [60]. I might as well let him dangle from the back of my belt next time I slice and dice with a chainsaw [82].” [53]

The front cover for a new comic about the merc with a mouth looks so intense! Deadpool: Black, White & Blood will be released this August as part of the “Black, White & Blood” series that began with Wolverine: Black, White & Blood back in 2020 [39] [42], much to the interest of someone who has completed a new novella herself [90]. However, why does the title of the series remind me of those rather deranged parodies of Pokémon from PETA that were released back in 2012 and 2013 [59] [60]? Aside from that, the terrifying and tyrannical Carnage starred in his first Black, White & Blood issue that was released back in March [38]. The rule of three, “Black, White & Blood” also somewhat reminds me of Jane the Killer, my all-time favourite creepypasta character [21], even though I am not really much a creepypasta fan anymore. As a fan of Helluva Boss, an animated that is known for its intense cartoon violence [100] [101], I ought to brace myself for the violence and gore that the issues of Deadpool: Black, White & Blood if I ever read any of them [39] [106].

“Are you sure my Black, White & Blood series won’t be too intense for you, Laura? I know you told me that you used to write horror stories when you were younger, but you might need to hold onto your boyfriend and stay behind him during the gory parts. Besides, you don’t want to get blood all over your clothes, right?” [106]

The new playable versions of Deadpool in mafia suits who wear fake mustaches on their masks were introduced in the “Dawn of X” update of Marvel Future Fight and look strangely fascinating [49] [50]. There were welcomed to the roster with an all-new female Wolverine and alternate versions of Cable and Gambit, adding to the update’s recognition. I suppose you cannot go wrong with some more sophisticated badassery. The fake mustache on the masks of each costume must be very hard to remove as a rehash of the cartoon mustache trend from the mid-2010s. The white suit almost screams “Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson” [33]. Ultimately, both mafia suits are rather quirky and menacing at the same time, making Wade a potential leader of a mafia gang. I would not be surprised if Deadpool cosplays as Woody from the Toy Story franchise next as a reference to the hilarious “Meet Cable” Trailer for Deadpool 2 [4], especially for a possible sequel to the hack and slash game that broke the fourth wall more often than Conker’s Bad Fur Day and Conker: Live and Reloaded did [5] [19] [52]. Quite sophisticated as a mafia in Marvel Future Fight [49] [50], aren’t you, bub?

“Right you are, toots! I’m up for seeing you wearing a fabulous party dress whilst I’m in any of my mafia outfits, but trust me. You wouldn’t want it to be green. Or animated [22].” [50] [51]

Speaking of gaming, the rarer times we tolerated Deadpool being PG-13 aside from Once Upon A Deadpool were his roles as a LEGO character [34]. You ought to see some great stop-motion videos that feature a LEGO Deadpool figure on YouTube [8] [25]. In all honesty, I am up for Deadpool having his own LEGO game someday that is set in an alternative timeline featuring him in his Ultimate outfit as the Ultimate version of him known as “Wadey Wilson” is quite a memorable one [35] [45], despite how he was eventually killed off by the mainstream merc. I know I have already discussed what to expect in a video game based on Deadpool 3 [97] [98], but I believe some of my explanation would apply to a LEGO Deadpool game or an official sequel to the merc’ own game from 2013 and 2015 [5] [20] [34] [99]. Surely a LEGO game based on Deadpool sounds like a witty idea, but that would lead to him being rated PG-13…again [3] [66]. Furthermore, we might as well hope for another re-release or a sequel to the hack-and-slash game that was rated 18 in Europe [20] [99]. A sequel would definitely need to be…well…more up to date [88].

“A LEGO Deadpool game sounds great, Laura! Well, I know that a game based on Deadpool 3 will probably not happen [97] [88]. Daddy and his creative team at Marvel are still trying to be money-wise, okay? We still put maximum effort into what we do.” [34]

Over a week after I got a Deadpool plush for my birthday [91], an episode of Marvel Long Story Short starring the masked rascal goes into detail on the events of Deadpool, King of Monsters [18], but sums it up at quite a fast pace [46] [107]. This is basically a rehash of how Deadpool: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was summed up in an episode of Marvel: TL;DR that was released in late 2018 [47]. The huge difference is that the animated summary of Deadpool, King of Monsters features a completely different art style [46]. It was quite strange to see the characters only have four fingers on each hand instead of five, but it is no big deal. However, if there ever ought to be an official Japanese dub of the series, all the characters should consist of ten fingers [13] [14] [92]. I loved that sly Frozen reference he made during Elsa Bloodstone’s recovery [26]. Speaking of Bloodstone, she gets to celebrate her 20th anniversary in 2021 too [46] [107]! Will a prediction that the Monster God will come to try and slay the manly mutate in 2022 come true [8]? I mean, Wade is right. Some things need to be saved for a second season [104] [105].

“There goes Laura again. Being all analytical on cartoons like the beautiful blogger she is [104] [105]. Well, she has been told that she’s pretty a lot of times. And she has blogged about me several times [88] [97] [98] [99]. Perhaps Deadpool 3 will be released in 2022…or at least the official trailer for it. Gotta wait for something cool for her to write about next year, right?” [46]

It was not long until we celebrated the fifth anniversary of the masked rascal’s first box office hit during and after Valentine’s Day [89]. Although 2016 was a horrible year [6], we still cherish it to this day for the amazing fourth wall wreckage, engaging action sequences and likeable characters [22]. Let us not forget the film’s well-deserved sequel, along with its PG-13 counterpart that further enriched the merc’s live-action legacy in 2018 [23] [66]. The moment when he meets Vanessa Carlysle in the afterlife in Deadpool 2 reminds me of the premise “Leon Starlight’s Orange Halo”, a short story I wrote back in 2019 [36] [103]. Although we now know the Deadpool 3 will be rated R [88], there is some speculation that there will be a PG-13 equivalent that will be released several months after the main version’s release and marketing. Come on, that would still be far more tolerable than the X-Men Origins treatment he got in both the film and the game based on it [99] [109]. Since Weapon XI was so 2009 [108], I think I can let Mr. Pool speak in an Australian accent after this one as we are still hoping for the best outcome for Deadpool 3 to happen [2].

“I think Blind Al would be a great friend to Laura’s mom. Besides, she and I would know what to do if some asshole tries to scam her.” [4]
“*in an Australian accent* What will the lovely sheila who wrote this article dream of tonight? Her knight in red armour is sure to whisper gravelly nothings in her ear after telling the imposter to f**k off. After all, he is her backup boyfriend.” [2]

There is no such title as a “backup partner”, Mr. Wilson! Well, unless a person is into polygamy. Anyway, I am up for seeing an extended edition of Deadpool vs The World with some new packs of WTF? cards and caption cards soon, thus potentially taking the experience to a new level [88], somewhat similar to how Screwball Scrabble Level 2 expands on the challenge of the original Screwball Scrabble with a new set of challenges and a game connector that links the two mazes together [72] [80]. Besides, it has been announced that a special re-release of the witty card game will be presented in a new edition of the box that is coal black with the “Nerdy 30 Years” logo at the top right corner of the front this May [81] [82]. Additionally, new packs of cards can be sold separately in specifically stylised packets, just like many expansion packs for Cards Against Humanity [11]. Despite the heavily missed opportunity to develop an online version of Deadpool vs The World before the outbreak of COVID-19 [88], some of us can still hope for some additional packs of cards to enhance the experience after purchasing the Nerdy 30 edition of the base game [81] [82].

“I know that Laura is still with her part-Polish prince, but I think she’s now technically polygamous. Thanks to yours truly. I may be a dick that looks like a ball sack, but at least I come in protection that might as well be cherry-flavoured…even when my ass is stuck to a cactus.” [80]

I would not be surprised if Deadpool is Funko’s favourite character of all time, considering how many variants of him are available as Funko Pop” figure [88], including him as a mermaid and him as a cheerleader who unfortunately does not come with a chainsaw [7] [83]. This Spring, a variant of him wearing a pair of pink teddy trousers will be available at Virtual Con [55]. The figures within the new Black Light line look amazing as they are the members of the X-Force and the iconic characters of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland coated in a striking and gaudy colour scheme [30] [56] [57]. I understand that not everyone likes Funko Pop! figures though. The black eyes of many figures based on iconic fictional characters are more of Jane the Killer’s thing [21]. As the owner of one of the older Funko Pop! figures, I am quite bewildered that how the variety has grown incredibly. I believe that another wave of new figures will be available to promote Deadpool 3. But wait! Speaking of Deadpool 3, what if…the film will be split into two parts?! First comes Deadpool 3: Part 1 and the year afterwards brings us Deadpool 3: Part 2!

“Damnit, Laura! I hate cliffhangers! Are you trying to make me anxious about my third movie ending up like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [73]?! Next thing, I might suddenly be unable to decide if I should wear red gloves or black gloves!!” [48]
“Well, if Deadpool 3 will be split into two parts, I’ll think of them as metaphors for a whale named “Moby” and a cat whose favourite food is fish. They would be functional on their own accords…but seem incomplete without each other…to a certain extent. Allow my hands to demonstrate [22].” [55]

No matter how many other superheroes Deadpool has made fun of [84], we are grateful for thirty years of his wittiness, sass, bravery and manhood. Hopefully, he knows to lift his mask up a little bit before taking a bite out of a hotdog now [70]. Aside from that, the idea of IronDeadpool is as epic as Mech Cookie Monster and might as well be canon in a new comic book series someday [71] [76] [94]! Well, apart from how he mocked Tony Stark’s alcoholism [87]. The events and merchandise associated with marking thirty years of his slaying, strutting and speech sure enhance the anniversary’s memorability, helping it bloom like a red rose. Surely early 2021 has been risky and destructive, notably in the United Kingdom [9] [77], but the masked rascal is still a great coping mechanism for me [69]. I am pretty sure he has been a great coping mechanism for you guys too. Who knows what will be adapted from his comics into Deadpool 3, whether it will be split into two parts like Breaking Dawn and Mockingjay were or not [74] [75] [78] [79]? Happy Nerdy 30, Mr. Pool! Those credits are sure to roll!

“Still looking forward to Deadpool 3, ladies and gentlemen [99]? So am I. Who knows? It might suddenly be rated 18 in the UK. I know that most of us will just stick to a prime version that will be rated R if there’ll also be a PG-13 version of it later on. If the pandemic is over at the time of its release, I might as well have a seat reserved for Laura and another seat reserved for her boyfriend.” [3]
