Barbie: The Movie – Overachieving Outstandingly As A Feminist Phenomenon

2024 marks the 65th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty [150], but let us hope that Merryweather, one of the good fairies will not make all the pink things in Barbie Land blue, especially during its corruption into Kendom [62] [120]. Pinky from the MySims series would love that though [65] [102]! It is quite impactful to reflect on how I have gone from playing Detective Barbie In the Mystery of the Carnival Caper at my grandparents’ house to reflecting on the overwhelming success of the live-action film about Mattel’s plastic icon having an existential crisis [91] [143]. The film would have been entirely different if it had been distributed by Universal Pictures or Sony and released at some point in the 2010s…or if it came out in 2007 [50] [84] [151]. Choosing between Barbie and Oppenheimer in Summer 2023 was quite like an image of two lines of toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals; one aimed at boys and the other aimed at girls I would see as a child back in the day [67] [86] [92] [118] [154]. Nevertheless, gender roles suck and you can be a fan of any franchise you adore, regardless of your gender. Sometime after dinner with Stolas from Helluva Boss [111], it is time to turn up the Barbiecore once again in the Pisces season as we continue to reflect on the success of the live-action Barbie film directed by Greta Gerwig, one of our women of the year [42] [56] [73] [75] [87]. 

Look at these two meme buddies standing wholesomely together on the official McDonald’s Ecuadorean Twitter account back in Summer 2023 [96] [100]. And yes, Barbie: The Movie is not Greta Gerwig’s only film about a young woman’s crisis and the obsession with it has not stopped, especially during the run of the Barbie Career of the Year Women in Film series [13] [14] [15] [117]. While our young consumers are surprised by a new range of Polly Pocket compact toys [90], I hope all the Barbies who like their pink drinks hot and all the Barbies who like their pink drinks iced have had another best day ever in Barbie Land [18] [122]. Better not let one out of her box though [126]. [100]

More of the film and its creative team’s achievements continue to be listed one by one on social media [25] [29] [32] [39] [43] [149], including: 

• Six People’s Choice Awards, including “Movie of the Year” [19]
• The BizBash award for “Best TV or Film Premiere Event” [30] [146]
• Eight Academy Award Nominations [38]
• The SDSA award for Best Achievement in Decor/ Design in a Fantasy or Science Fiction film [44]
• Four Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations [41]
• The Thirteenth AACTA Award for “Best Film” [4]
• The AACTA Audience Choice Award for “Favourite Film” [3]

Oppenheimer, the film’s R-rated meme partner based on the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s involvement in the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II and its creative team have been successful at this year’s BAFTA Awards as seven awards were won [9] [46] [96] [106] [107]. In all honesty, I hardly care how “rigged” award ceremonies are as people are simply entitled to their opinions and you can always declare your own winners [133] [134]. Please do not take me back to the year 2016, Doc Brown [7] [114]! However, since perspectives change from time to time and exposures eventually get revealed, some successes could turn out to bedeceitful [80] [85] [121] [127]. But as for Barbie: The Movie and a few other amazing films that excelled in 2023, I believe that the awards they achieved were quite deserved to some extent [2], even though some aspects of their developments were not all that peachy [55]. 

Yes, even the awards Waterloo Road achieved throughout the years seem deserved to some extent [142], despite how I was experiencing some “inspiration” from the series against my will when I was about fifteen years old [140]. A British version of Mean Girls would be quite amusing though [57]. Even more achievements earned by the creative crew of Barbie: The Movie include the Golden Globe Award for “Best Original Song” [24], an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song” and the Society Of Composers & Lyricists Award for “Outstanding Original Song” [26] [45], which is no wonder why some of us suspect that it could be adapted into a stage musical possibly before a direct chronological follow-up in a few years’ time [143] [145]. Do not forget to show admiration for animated films that are worthy of winning awards too [2] [8]! [27]

The plot of the film was parodied in an advert for the 96th Annual Oscars that will air an hour earlier on ABC on the 10th of March [81]. It stars Jimmy Kimmel who gets lost on the way to Oscarsland, a direct parody of Barbie Land focused on the nominees for a range of achievement titles, including Poor Things. Weird Barbie becomes his guide after asking what kind of “Ken” he is in a rather infatuated manner. As the duo arrive at Carnegie Hall in the weird wagon after a colourful montage of bizarre landscapes that reference other successful films in 2023 besides Barbie: The Movie, most notably Oppenheimer [106], America Ferrera gives a parody of Gloria’s speech on how difficult it can be being a woman in society centred on being a host for the Oscars [18] [81]. With Kenough Kenergy, Ryan Gosling pops up from the back seats of the weird wagon as a callback to Ken surprising Barbie on the way to the real world. Aside from Barbie: The Movie getting nominated for eight awards at the upcoming 96th Annual Oscars [1], the advert is still a brilliant spoof that highlighted Weird Barbie’s comedic nature and so on with some creative elements [81]. 

Kimmel sure had a wild ride with Weird Barbie [81]. Some of you may recall other forms of creativity associated with these award ceremonies, such Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story franchise presenting the award for “Best Animated Short” at the 72nd Annual Oscars in 2000 and the main cast of South Park making special guest appearances at the 19th and Last-Ever Annual Cable Ace Awards to present the award for “Best Talk Show Series” in 1997 [53] [108] [123] [152]. Barbie: The Movie can always be nominated for rose gold Oscars resembling a woman known as “Octavias”, “Oksanas” or “Odessas” in Barbie Land [110] [131]. [81]

2024 also marks the 60th anniversary of the debut of Allan, Ken’s buddy [10]. You do not suspect that a marmot is calling out this name [46], no? Some of my fellow 2000s kids may recall him as Midge’s husband and Ryan’s father in the Happy Family line [145]. Again, if Barbie: The Movie is “anti-male propaganda”, then how come Allan Pilgrim got sick of the patriarchal takeover and helped Barbie, Gloria and Sasha restore the essences of girl power in Barbie Land [34] [137]? I still believe he can be an empathetic ally of “Beach” Ken who can find his own identity in a spin-off series or sequel though [151]. In the meantime, his classic doll form from 1964 is available to pre-order [10]. I am glad that the film gave Allan a lot more attention [18], especially before the 60th anniversary of his debut in the Barbie franchise [10]. Call me crazy, but in a sequel or a threequel, perhaps he can be employed as a police officer alongside a new Barbie referred to as “Officer Barbie” in Barbie Land tracking down a criminal in Barbie Land but let us save our hopes for a faithfully fresh follow-up film for next year or two [49] [151]. 

In the meantime, Allan can remain a great reality dating show host and a therapist for the Kens [11]. And let us not forget to wish the Strawberry Shortcake franchise a happy 45th anniversary and Cadbury a happy 200th anniversary too [54] [125]! [10]

Can you imagine Barbie Land expanding with some pink castles like Craigievar Castle, one of the magnificent historical castles in Scotland [61] [103]? I think there ought to be more pink essences in Barbie Land [5] [36], such as a new car in a coat of hot pink, the colour of the hype for the film in production that also became a Summer fashion trend in 2022 [70] [73] [130] [138]. Oh! And do not forget some lovely shades and tints of purple, including lilac and lavender. Aside from a few princes, princesses and mermaids in Barbie Land [21] [23] [35] [51], there could also be an enchanted forest where Fairy Barbies reside and cast magic spells [48] [82] [101]. But wait! What if one of the Fairy Barbies…could turn anything pink into blue [62] [120]?! There can still be some elements of Kendom as Stephen Colbert has been knighted by Ryan Gosling for having plenty of Kenergy [128]. As grateful as I was for no longer feeling imprisoned in some Waterloo Road wannabe [140], I would be delighted to see more of Barbie Land if the movie evolves into its own franchise that should hopefully not seem “milked to death” and “a cash cow”, but simply create new opportunities for characters and new elements of creativity [151]. Again, let us save our wishes for a great sequel for its official announcement.

Barbie Land could also be expanded with not only stables for the horses during the Kendom takeover and new unicorns for Horse Rider Barbies to ride but various things coated in rose gold…or pink gold if you like to race as Pink Gold Peach in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe [22] [104] [105]. After all, the movie received five BAFTA nominations, including “Best Production Design” [28], despite another snub [132]. In the meantime, those who strolled through Ken Street in Toronto nearly a year ago can reflect on that [139]. And if a Barbie prefers light blue or teal over pink [20], she can rock some stylish pumps styled after Hatsune Miku from Mayla because of Barbie doll logic [18] [93] [94] [95]. Could a Princess Barbie be named “Amelia” [16] [17]? [139]

Despite my bitterness towards Waterloo Road [140], I can cut the third, fourth and fifth series some slack for portraying an autistic student pretty well [141]. I would be delighted to see an autistic human who recalls being infatuated with Barbie dolls in a sequel or threequel to Barbie: The Movie, as long as the big mistakes that were made in Music will not be made again [79]. Yet again, we will just have to wait and see in a few years’ time [151]. [141]

Barbie: The Movie deserves its success for its creativity and depth [27] [28] [31] [33] [37] [40] [76]. But still, a sequel centred on Ken will come in handy for sorting out the problem its political satire unintentionally caused [135]. Moreover, there can be more effective and rational ways to discuss sexism than some examples I have witnessed [52]. And yes, there could perhaps be a threequel to Barbie: The Movie after a sequel centred on Ken excels in fixing what was considered “misandristic propaganda” and helping him find his own identity [25], much like how there could be a threequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie after its well-deserved sequel does well with an honourable portrayal of Yoshi and so on [147] [148] [150]. Speaking of threequels, there is a lot of hype for Deadpool & Wolverine that can be accelerated by the release of Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII in May [63] [88] [89] [144]. In the meantime, be sure to check out some new Harley Quinn Funko! Pop figures that are currently available to pre-order [71] [113], along with a twin pack with Poison Ivy that was released before Valentine’s Day in honour of what can be considered my favourite ship in DC history and feel free to state your thoughts on the animated film titled “Barbie And Stacie To The Rescue” coming to Netflix a week before my birthday this March [12] [72]. Good luck back in reality [35], even if it makes me want to shriek and yank your hair out sometimes.

It would be funny if Stella and her brother Andrealphus from Helluva Boss argued over which colour a dress for Octavia on her eighteenth birthday should be; pink or blue [99] [112] [120]. Moxxine sure loves hot pink but considers a softer tint of pink “basic” [98]. At least a lighter shade always makes the sakura falls in Japan so heavenly in the Spring [109]. Near this year’s Spring, there will be a Barbiemania at Electric Ballroom in London next Saturday and a “Mother Sunday” screening of Barbie: The Movie alongside a Pink Party Bar at Bristol Aquarium just before the 96th Annual Oscars ceremony airs [64] [66] [81]. As for me, I shall look forward to the rest of the second season of Helluva Boss throughout the rest of 2024 after this year’s steamy Valentine’s Day-themed merchandise sales [97] [124] [144]. [64]

It is undeniable how revolutionary Barbie has been for sixty-five years [145]. As for her live-action cinematic hit and other movies that were released in 2023, let us be good sports about snubs at award ceremonies and not blatantly throw the term “rigged” around like sore losers [133] [134]. Besides, I may be an iPhone user, but I hold no bias against Samsung phones [69] [78] [136]. Until then, some ASMR from the friendly fuzzy pink monster named “Cosmo” might be up your alley if you are currently feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders [58] [59] [60]. Moreover, keep the Barbie and Ken ASMR vibes coming, ASMR artists [6] [60] [74] [83]! Lastly, beyond the prettiness of Barbie Land, there will be crystal creations in a new stuff pack for The Sims 4 the day after next week [129]. Imagine if Fauna made Aurora’s dress about as green as an inspired plumbob [62] [65] [120] [129]! Oh! The Second Fourth Episode Of Helluva Boss

“Exes and Oohs”, the previous episode of Helluva Boss was praised for much better pacing, some new exploration for Moxxie and Millie and other aspects of improved writing, such as well-timed and thought-out flashbacks [48] [114] [115], even though a semi-censored dildo outbreak could have only been used during an arranged wedding or, alternatively, a failed attempt at seduction upstairs [4]. I like to think that its critical reception made up for those who were disappointed in the first two episodes of the second season for specific reasons [51] [52]. After re-reviewing the first two episodes of the first season [90] [91] [93] [94], I remained thankful for how the series has been some form of escapism for me [71] [72] [79] [126], despite a few troubles. As honoured as I was to be thanked by Eric Schwartz, the one who voiced Chazwick Thurman in “Exes and Oohs” who also approved of my ambition in reviewing episodes of the series and parodying songs during the fourth episode of “Who Fanarted” and as happy as I was to attend MegaCon in Birmingham for the second time as Bendy from Bendy and the Ink Machine back in March [48] [69] [107], I am delighted to review “Western Energy”, the fourth episode of the second season with my fellow sinners [29] [55].

Thankfully, Chaz was kept away from Lisa Cooper, even though there was a hugely missed opportunity for him to carry her while swimming in the depths of the Greed Ring’s sea and sing a reprise of “Chaz Time” to her [71] [72] [100]. What? He was a shark! Doo doo doo doo doo doo [74]! No booty called in his debut…well, except for the Blitzster’s [48] [83]. He is probably in Double Hell right now, so keep him out of my laboratory [46] [105]! [48]

As I re-reviewed “Murder Family” (which was NOT in only one minute [23]!) during the third anniversary of Animal Crossing: New Horizons [2] [96], I suspected that a new episode could focus on Blitzo’s business again [95]. Well, is that the case? The toxicity of Twitter may have almost ruined Helluva Boss for me before I took another hiatus from the platform [99], but I am still highly appreciative of the love for Lisa Cooper [41] [78]. Let us see if the hype for “Western Energy”, the fourth episode of the second season during and after the launch of Minecraft Legends has prospered [55] [64]. [55]

Where is Sutorasu Ouji, my owl daddy [97] [98] [124] [125]? As strikingly different as this interpretation of Stolas of the Ars Goetia is, compared to the interpretation of him from the Megami Tensei franchise [56], I personally think one of Puss In Boots’ previous eight lives ought to be a bodyguard for him [66]. Unfortunately, as seen in the first sneak peek of the episode, he is held captive by Striker. His sudden captivity was quicker than I thought it would be at the beginning of “Western Energy” [55]. I sure love how he pointed out how clichéd it is to be tied to a train track, yet I am a little unnerved by how he considers Blitzo’s kinks more…effective than Striker’s physical threats and attacks. In all seriousness though, I knew his likeability would be maintained if he angrily vowed to protect her if a menacing fiend even mentions her name, which is exactly what happens in “Western Energy”. How he ended up more seriously injured than the time he and the Blitzster got a little carried away with bear traps and was put into a hospital to be surrounded by bouquets that must be Get Well gifts from commoners is without a doubt one of the most emotional moments of the series.

For Stolas’ character in general, even after such a tragic moment, I am up for Stolas reflecting on what he can do to not only be an even better parent but an overall better person beyond his hardships [22] [76] [92] [93] [94] [124] [125]. Could he learn something from Striker’s other motivation for trying to kill him aside from how his sass and sex jokes made his damsel-in-distress moment a lot less clichéd [55] [80]? But for now, get well in the next episode or two, my owl daddy! [55]

Considering how a new angelic weapon greatly reduced his powers, what if…Stolas and his daughter are part-angel [32] [62]? Perhaps an ancestor of his was the fallen angel that began the Ars Goetia monarchy many, many years ago [32] [52]? Especially after such a tragic moment in “Western Energy”, the astronomical Goetia prince’s portrayal has come a long way since the pilot [50]. He is my owl daddy and he wished me a happy birthday two months ago [79]! [55]

Guess who is back for a cliffhanger from the first season finally being solved [53]? Striker, of course! I knew the rope for holding Stolas hostage seen in the trailer would not be any ordinary rope as it glows like an angel’s heavenly light but is still hellish under Striker’s use [55]! As intimidating as his close-up was in another preview on Twitter [35], his vengeful bitterness towards upper-class demons like the Ars Goetia can be considered quite similar to Shere Khan’s hatred towards mankind in The Jungle Book [59], which explains why there was not an opportunity for him to take advantage of Stolas’ sexuality [124] [125]. Striker is not voiced by Norman Reedus, but Edward Bosco instead, which is not a problem to me as Bosco’s performance is just as outstanding [6] [53] [55]. It appears that he has died due to being crushed by his own statue that has something…interesting [55]. However, it is likely that he will return in one piece in a future episode. His portrayal as a villain is still outstanding and a little more comedic than in “The Harvest Moon Festival” [53], considering how he almost killed Stolas after explaining one of his motives to him and so on.

Striker has been potentially fighting classism with classism before his battle against a husband and a wife [29] [55]. Can you imagine how he would react if he captured Stolas’ stunt double instead [58]? I would consider him one of the series’ most memorable villains. [55]

But in all seriousness, Stolas’ eyes as a trophy if he doesn’t die?! That is f**ked up, Striker!! And how are you NOT embarrassed by a statue of you having…something interesting?! [55]

Being a shark demon whose head briefly resembles Rayman’s [87], could Chaz have been an excellent swimmer before his plan to scam his ex-boyfriend’s father and deadly fate [8] [101]? What about Andrealphus, another new antagonist in “Western Energy” [55]? Since the I.M.P. are clearly antiheroes, has the writing of another new episode could ultimately make him an anti-villain besides the C.H.E.R.U.B. to make the cast of characters in Hades even more diverse [47]? Does his portrayal mean I will take back what I stated that him being an anti-villain would be fair for Stella and her supporters [52] [124] [125]? Well, not really. I would say Andrealphus is kind of like a villain sidekick, which I am not against as he still questioned Stella’s plan to get Stolas killed as it would indeed lead to Octavia becoming a princess in his place [29] [55]. How he suggested gaining benefits from Stolas still being alive for a little longer is a sign of him being more rational and logical, leading to his sister thinking twice before calling Striker to call off the attempted murder. Do Stella and Octavia spend weekends at Andrealphus’ place [52]? If so, Andrealphus’ relationship with his niece can be explained in a future episode as she does not appear in “Western Energy”, despite being mentioned [55].

Andrealphus is quite the villain sidekick, isn’t he, despite how he managed to convince Stella to delay Stolas’ murder after a new motive? His voice suits him amazingly! And not to mention his cryokinesis makes him the Helluva Boss equivalent of Elsa from the Frozen franchise [16]! But aside from that, I would not make him call his own sister a “vixen” if I were one of the writers, but I do not think they would stoop THAT low. [55]

Since Andrealphus prevents Stolas from getting killed with his rather manipulative nature, I guess that technically makes him an anti-villain [29], but what could he try to gain from doing so in the next episode he will appear in? [55]

Stella is once again spiteful and villainous with no remorse for hiring Striker to assassinate an adulterer and has still not received any further depth beyond that aside from being convinced to delay Stolas’ murder by her more level-headed brother [55]. The problem some hazbeans have had with Stella since “The Circus” would apply to Kevin from Ed Edd n Eddy and Terrance from Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends [11] [24] [81]. Well, at least with Terrance being a teenage psychopath making his little brother’s life miserable for no reason [24], he gets karma for his misdeeds [11]. When will Stella get some form of karma or at least some backstory on why she is often so cruel [52] [55]? There is something quite amusing about Stella being the impulsive and remorseless one as her brother tries to talk some sense into her with a more logical approach, yet a moment of her realising that he would be right could lead to her finally getting a little depth, as well as karma [55]. Especially after Stolas’ recovery and relief from getting Stella out of his life, no way he would want his daughter to be in an arranged marriage like he was [52]!

Don’t be a betch, Stella! Let Stolas borrow that top after the divorce [82]! Any up for some milk tea after a sh** load of drama later [57]? [55]

As much as I would be up for Blossom’s bossiness and arrogance to be toned down to the point when she does not or learns not to shame Bubbles or Buttercup for having a comfort object in the next reboot of The Powerpuff Girls [26] [122] [123], I would be up to see Octavia remain beyond the “moody teenager” trope in a moment of her seeing her father in the hospital in possibly the next episode [93] [94]. [51]

Aside from how the Blitzsteris considered a fairly written character, I still believe that he could be aromantic [114] [115]. What new task awaits him after the moment he was drugged by the eventually deceased Chaz [48]? I was quite shocked to witness him being a target for prejudice from another demon, especially after a misunderstanding when she heard him trying to reassure Loona during an appointment for her [55]. At first, it seemed like the inconsistency regarding his relationship with a certain owl daddy caused by the postponement of the eighth episode of the first season and the writing of “Seeing Stars” still has not been fixed during the moment when he gives a call from him during his captivity [51] [124] [125]. However, once a Hazbean gets a good look at his reaction to the aftermath of such a shocking moment and a short text message conversation between them, there is still…something there, along with a sign of some consistency fixed if one were to pause the episode and read some older text messages [55]. Surely, the series’ prime setting being in Hell is not exactly the best excuse for the characters’ questionable actions, but the Blitzster still had to right to defend himself from being a target for racism and classism.

Thank you dearly for not using the vile R-word again, Blitzo [55]. That would be my least favourite moment in the pilot [50]. Moreover, we can forgive the Blitzster for woohooing with Chaz in “Exes and Oohs” as it was cleverly used to later expose him for being a fraud…and he seems to care about Stolas deep down [48] [55]. Who knows what will occur in the rest of the second season and the third one [5] [124] [125]? [55]

The Blitzster may have been considered the Number One Boss Babe back in July 2020 [9], but I am sure there is some way that he can disrespect me, even though I am not the only one who thinks he is Deadpool’s brother from another mother [75]. If a flawed character is worth rooting for, use their flaws wisely, even though something must be done about the constant racist undertones in the series eventually, right [22]? [55]

Strangely enough, Loona did not say a word in “Exes and Oohs”. [48] A new focus on her character in “Western Energy” is her fear of injections [55]. This is quite like Kevin having a fear of needles in “This Won’t Hurt an Ed”, the thirteenth episode of the fifth season of Ed, Edd n Eddy [18]. Although the side plot has not really clashed with the main one all that well due to Loona and Stolas’ situations both being fearful, but on completely different levels with notably different tones, at least it is always fascinating to witness the more vulnerable sides of both important demons of the Blitzster’s life when it comes to not making them Mary-Sues [55]. Moreover, I think Loona overcoming her fear of needles, despite that mighty roar from getting jabbed by an oversized syringe would be more effective and a little more in character if she spoke after getting the shot, even if her voice would be muffled by a pet cone outside of the hospital. However, there is a completely understandable reason for her lack of dialogue in “Exes and Oohs” and “Western Energy”. A possible cost-cutting decision during recording sessions. Hopefully, a bigger and more heart-warming role for the hellhound of the team will occur beyond her fury in another episode [51].

Just like Baymax said, having a lollipop is not age conditional [15]. Loona was quite beastly throughout the montage and the side plot is okay [55], but hopefully, she will get a speaking role in perhaps a more effective side plot or just one prime focus after her voice actress gets the support she needs during a difficult time and the budget for her future performances as the moody hellhound remains available [40]. [55]

My deepest condolences go out to the talented Erica Lindbeck and I am so sorry for her loss [40]. I wish her the best and I hope she is currently well. [51]

It was previously revealed that Moxxie was born in the Wrath Ring but spent most of his childhood in the Greed Ring and was a victim of an arranged marriage in what was a lot like the wedding scene in Beetlejuice [43] [63] [87]. I can see that Moxxie takes more of his mother, personality-wise despite spending most of his youth in the Greed Ring [43] [63]. Although it can be argued that it would make more sense for Blitzo to come and rescue Stolas instead, at least it is more consistent for Team M&M to battle Striker, reflecting on what happened in “The Harvest Moon Festival” [53]. Although it is slightly out of character it seems for Moxxie to fight a gang for confronting him about wearing a hat that looks a lot like the leader’s [55], it could be a sign of him progressing from the ridicule he got during the events of “The Harvest Moon Festival” and there was no sign of any of the gangsters being part of a seemingly wholesome family [53] [90] [91]. There is no need to insult the writers over a slight contraction in tweets [27] [43], but there would be a need for characters like Moxxie to keep progressing while being their likeable selves [48] [55].

At least Chaz did not give Moxxie any fruitcake in “Exes and Oohs” [48] [88]. As for Moxxie’s portrayal in “Western Energy”, he is once again noble as he vowed to fight Striker once again in honour of rescuing one of Hell’s princes. [55]

As enchantingly surreal as the pink buns of sakura burgers look [12], Millie is a co-starlet in red flesh instead [55]. I am glad that Medrano has addressed the criticism towards Millie rarely gaining any development besides being Moxxie’s badass wife after the release of “Exes and Oohs” [44] [48], even though there has been some skepticism of Hazbin Hotel not being more female-led [31] [45], despite the possibility of new continuity being established with new character designs [7]. As for Millie’s portrayal in “Western Energy”, she is still just a sidekick, but I still adore her loyalty to the I.M.P. cred and I like how she just wanted a straight answer regarding Striker’s whereabouts from a group of pint-sized singers rather than a song from them that will be explained later [55]. Perhaps an episode that will finally provide some even bigger progression for Millie will be the beginning of a third season, which could start with some backstory on how she and Moxxie first met [114] [115]. Perhaps there can be some relatable backstory for Sallie May as well, especially what it was like to be a young boy unsure about his gender before blossoming into a transwoman [53]. Moxxie and Millie may not have interacted with Stolas very much in the series, but I knew they would be able to rescue him [55]. 

Phew! That was a close one [55]! I still love Millie for being a self-empowerment female companion. Perhaps an official webcomic series based on Helluva Boss can focus more on the female characters at times to make up for some certain criticism [31] [44] [71]. [55]

What about the new minor characters? Unfortunately, the lady at the reception provides my least favourite joke of the episode [55]. Surely, dyslexic people deserve to receive great employment opportunities too, yet I understand that she is not a good representation of those with dyslexia. Let us not make the same mistake Sia made with “representation” of autism [112] [113]. About the other woman at the reception, I sure do not like how prejudiced and ignorant she was to Blitzo, especially right next to her child who has shared her views with him beyond public places [55]. And not to mention that shaming the unemployed is uncalled for! The doctor is a goat with a candle on his head, like how the nurse and receptionist has a pink flame above her hat, which vaguely reminds me of Dr. Mario and Dr. Fire Peach [110] [111]. The imps in a choir in the Wrath Ring for a song that, again, will be explained later seem a little too dedicated to it to the point where they unintentionally cause annoyance [55], much like the Mariachi Band from that episode of ¡Mucha Lucha! [60]. Once again, a couple of new minor characters have provided some different types of humour, even though some can be considered less funny than others [55]. 

I guess a few flames and medical care are meant to collide in Hell for some reason. [55]

I know I might sound a bit too serious as a fan of the series, but I can still enjoy the series, yet consider some aspects less favourable than others as I know to set boundaries outside of it [84]. Well, the hospital known as “St. An’s” is in the Sloth Ring of Hell [29], but again, that is probably not the best excuse for characters being utter a-holes. [55]

Oh my Satan! We finally get to see what the Sloth ring is like [29] [55]! As a sinner can tell by its sky, its signature colour is pink, meaning that the Envy Ring’s signature colour is purple and there is still some speculation of the Gluttony Ring’s signature colour being yellow after the second part of the Season One finale’s postponement [118] [119]. Compared to the Pride Ring, Lust Ring, Greed Ring and Wrath Ring, the Sloth Ring is rather dreamlike with floating islands and a waterfall, which is fitting in terms of portraying symbolism of the sin of laziness [55]. I suspected that the building shown in the second sneak peek would be a hospital for hellborns due to the cross above the entrance and the sign that says “Surgical Wing” before the episode’s release [34]. As for the Wrath Ring, it can be expanded with a gas station and a mine shaft that is basically Striker’s hideout [30] [55]. Again, I know the side plot of Loona getting her jab does not fit in the much more serious main plot very much, but it is still intriguing to see what the Sloth Ring is basically like and the clashing at least worked with a moment that will be explained later.

It is refreshing to see a new ring in Hell [55]. What could there be in the Envy Ring? What else could there be in the others? I would not be surprised if there will be a parody of Love Island in the Lust Ring named “Lust Island” [42]. I know it makes very little sense to have weddings and priests in Hell [31], but maybe the priest during Moxxie and Chaz’s arranged wedding is a fallen angel. I think St. An’s needs Hell’s equivalent of Baymax from the Big Hero 6 franchise, even though he is an angelic from Robot Heaven [15]. [55]

As hard as I work on my reviews and song parodies [10] [103] [106] [109], I always look forward to listening to a new original song in a new episode. There is an upbeat country-styled theme song for Striker performed by imps crooning wherever he went on his horse, which unfortunately annoyed him and pushed him into demanding them to leave at the end of it, making me chuckle in amusement, yet I thought he liked singing about himself in “The Harvest Moon Festival” [53] [55]. There is also another country song titled “Whatcha Thinkin’ About?”, which is basically a song for two montages for the price of one as it suddenly becomes a pop song when a blade hits Striker’s radio [53]. It does not fit the battle between Striker and Team M&M, but in quite a funny way to clash with Loona going savage at St. An’s Hospital. What could be next? A partly promiscuous rap from my owl daddy after his recovery? A song regarding Stella’s vengefulness full of Disney villain vibes [1]? Andrealphus is not going to sing an evil equivalent of “Let It Go” from Frozen in a future episode, is he [16]? I cannot wait to hear more songs in the rest of the second season, no matter how much toxicity there will be on Twitter [93] [94].

I also wonder if Bryce Pinkham’s live signing on Instagram could lead to some inspiration for a moment of Stolas as a hooting lumberjack daddy after his recovery in the next episode or two [77]. Speaking of singing, rickrolling the lanky owl demon for the second time and hearing Eric Schwartz make a song out of one of my comments on the fourth episode of Who Fanarted? were worth it [72] [108]. [55]

I quite like how the wreckage of the wall in “Exes and Oohs” was a call-back to its destruction in “C.H.E.R.U.B.” [47] [48], but what about the writing in “Western Energy” [55]? Unfortunately, it is not without a few faults, despite its decent pacing. How did Stolas’ phone get repaired after getting broken by Striker? Was he holding a spare one this whole time? As previously mentioned, the side plot did not seem to clash that well with the main plot and might have worked better in a separate episode, but at least there was some convenience between them as Stolas ended up in the exact same hospital where Loona got her vaccination at. Strangely enough, “Western Energy” is the shortest episode of the second season so far. Perhaps there could have been some extra minutes featuring Octavia coming home to find out that Stolas has been hospitalised. Maybe that can be featured in the next episode while Blitzo is either finally comforted by his sister or dealing with Fizzarolli during a performance of his in the Greed Ring [124] [125]. Alternatively, some extra minutes added to “Western Energy” could show Striker ironically being still alive as he rises from the ground [55]. Despite a few hiccups regarding the writing, I still see the effectiveness of the main plot, especially what Stolas goes through.

Even though a noticeable change in tone in a new episode can be a little off-putting to an extent, it can lead to discovering a writer’s strengths and weaknesses in terms of managing different settings and plot points. Trust me, I know from experience as a writer who used to write possibly mediocre creepypastas [39] [65] [124] [125]. I can understand the goal to balance the edgy humour with some serious moments to provide some likeability for characters in Helluva Boss though [48] [49] [51] [52]. [55]

Why not make an official webcomic series based on the show or a spin-off centred on Crim, Striker or any smaller role with the most potential to be the main character of a spin-off following a direct chronological order like an animated film for a better chance of notably improved writing with much more consistency and a more effective continuity [71] [114] [115]? Or better yet, establish a chronological order to make the third season seem quite like a movie [5]! [48]

It may not be easy being a deviant in 2023 [73], but let us proceed to analyse one of the best qualities of Helluva Boss; the animation. The running of Striker’s horse is majestic with a mane and tail like Rapidash [17] [33] [55]. Like the fighting scene in “Truth Seekers”, there is some remarkable shot rotations during an impressively dynamic battle between Striker and Mr. and Mrs. Knolastname in “Western Energy”, which would be my favourite part of the episode. There is a variety of vibrant and detailed backgrounds, from the café named “Richest Cup” where Stolas is confronted about Stella and Andrealphus about the aftermath of a long overdue divorce to emotional tints of purple surrounding an injured owl daddy at the hospital [29] [55], highly similar to the purple darkness throughout the moment he gloomily performed “Stolas Sings” in “The Circus” [52]. The falling petals near Stolas’ hospital bed add to the emotional vibes of his uncertainty regarding his Blitzy as we all know that he just wants to be loved [55]. Even though there can be animation errors spotted by those with a masterful attention to detail, the animators and artists deserve a lot of praise for the hard work they have put into the visuals. 

Hopefully, Crimson’s mansion has not been completely burnt down [48] [102], possibly resulting in a Mortal Kombat reference [104]. As for Andrealphus’ ice palace, it is absolutely stunning [36] [55]! The beans of a sunset-like tint of pink during Stella and Andrealphus’ conversation in its tearoom reminds me of Elsa being consumed by fear in her ice palace in Frozen [20]. [55]

As some of you know, I am still quite an art lover. Aside from how the characters’ moments are lively and some of their expressions are priceless, those roses sure look intimating with one eye each! Kudos to the artists and animators once again! [55]

Due to copyright reasons associated with A24 as hinted by the redesigns for the Hazbin Hotel television series [7], I would say that Helluva Boss might technically not be considered a spin-off of Hazbin Hotel anymore, despite how both shows are set in the same universe [46] [50] [93] [94]. However, if there ought to be another episode of Helluva Boss featuring Loo Loo Land, but rebuilt with perhaps some new attractions and such, the front of the Fun House ought to resemble Lucifer’s updated design if that would be legally possible or in a slightly different design, much like how C.A. Cupid’s appearance changes when she enters Ever After High [21]. I still believe there can be a spin-off of either series in the future, such as a spin-off of Helluva Boss focusing on more of Crim’s legacy as an evil mafia boss and a spin-off of Hazbin Hotel centred around Alastor’s career as a radio host and how he became a serial killer in the 1920s [46] [48]. And who knows? A spin-off could turn out to be better written than the main series. With enough ambition, another spin-off, along with an official webcomic series can provide some further exploration in the depths of Hell.

Surely, Lucifer’s cameo in “Loo Loo Land” may not have aged well [46] [49] [93] [94], but at least we will see other icons in Hell in the next episode or two, such as Mammon [124] [125]. [49]

In either this June, July or August, the next chapter of Charlie’s dream to tell awaits sinners wanting to have a better afterlife but needing to deserve it [7] [45]. But in the meantime, I want those bringing up current drama involving SpindleHorse, the fandom and so on to leave me and many others alone [13] [93] [94] [124] [125]. [46]

It looks like the cliffhanger has finally been solved…only to lead to another [53] [55]. I sure hope the next episode will be a follow-up. Whether the Hellaverse fandom has gone downhill or not [13] [67], “Western Energy,” the second fourth episode of Helluva Boss was quite worth the wait [29] [55], despite not being as well-written as “Exes and Oohs” [48] [114] [115]. I wish to not be considered “incapable of forming my own opinion”, “confused”, “unable to think for myself” or “going woke” for associating other people’s opinions on each episode to prevent bias as that was how I felt when I was a creepypasta fan in the mid-2010s [85] [93] [94] [124] [125]. We absolutely do not need reality television shows corrupting their stars’ and possibly their audiences’ well-being anymore [3] [37] [38]. We need our escapisms to carry on progressing along with us [76]. As our bronies and pegasisters are preparing to party with My Little Pony: Bridalstock as a start to the fourth chapter of a fifth generation this Summer [61] [112] [113], I am still up for an official webcomic series by SpindeHorse helping the series’ raunchy and demonic legacy excel even further [55] [124] [125], yet I can understand why some hazbeans still miss the days of the old Voxtagram stories. How about a Makaton or BSL (British Sign Language) dub of Helluva Boss someday [25]? 

I once again thank the talented and charming Eric Schwartz for complimenting my ambitions in reviewing episodes of Helluva Boss and so on [69] [70] [71] [72]! I am not “unintelligent” for adoring the show and I have every right to point out its redeeming qualities and praise its improvements without being judged harshly for doing so [114] [115]. [48]

There is more to look forward to throughout the rest of 2023. Rayman’s big return to 3D gaming ought to be worth it this Autumn [86]. What can I say? I am always up for some cartoon craze [116] [117]. Speaking of cartoon craze, there is still the rest of the second season of Helluva Boss to die for [124] [125]. Moreover, I am thinking of reviewing the fifth and sixth episodes of the second season together to take some time off the anxiety from drama [13] [93] [94]. I still do not think I can part with VivziePop’s Hellaverse and my love for it. I hope my owl daddy gets well soon! Hopefully, he will never leave his Blitzy [68]. Stay sinful! [55]

The Second Trailer For The Second Season of Helluva Boss

This is an analysis and review of a trailer for the rest of the second season of an animated series that contains strong profanity and moderate cartoon violence, including a stabbing and one moment of gore. Reader discretion is advised.

During the Christmas break, four animated sneak peeks of a new episode of Helluva Bosswere summoned just before the reveal of official sneak peeks of Hazbin Hotel [49] [50]. Something sinfully delightful rose from the depths of diligence after many tomb raiders finally got to play Tomb Raider Reloaded on Valentine’s Day, also known as Lara Croft’s birthday [91] [109] [110]. While my fiancé and I were in Liverpool, loyal hazbeans witnessed the second official trailer for the second season of Helluva Boss in Las Vegas [4] [6] [30] [35]. It has been announced that four new episodes will be released throughout this Spring and this Summer, which means that the second trailer has made up for how the first one turned out to be partially misleading [26] [51]. Just like the previous trailer that was released in late 2021, it consists of incomplete animation sequences, which still shows the dedication to continue the second season throughout 2023 [4] [6]. Relishing in hellish proactivity [46], let us discuss what we can expect, according to what it seems in the second trailer for the second season of Helluva Boss, along with a bit of what was revealed during the Christmas break, some reflections on the previous trailer and a few concerns and hopes regarding some of the previous episodes.

This year’s Valentine’s Day-themed merchandise sure is hot, like the flames and desires in the ring of Lust [52]. [59]

Realistically and consistently, the title for the first trailer for the second season should have been titled “HELLUVA 2022/2023 TRAILER” to prevent a few accusations of partial false advertising [26] [51]. Nonetheless, the second one has pretty much made up for that. Credit for the screenshots of the recorded footage at LVL UP EXPO goes to Dani Draws, Mistress Mercury, DionneVestal and Iron_Icarus on Twitter [17] [20] [39] [60]. [6]

Before the trailer, members of the audience at LVL UP EXPO got to see a fully animated sneak peek of the upcoming episode that was teased near New Year’s Eve [4] [6] [49]. A new imp character is Crimson or “Crim” for short, Moxxie’s father is introduced in a similar manner to how I.M.P. met Millie’s parents in “The Harvest Moon Festival” which debunks the theory of him being dead outside of Moxxie’s dreams [53] [57]. He seems rather gentlemanly, most notably by how he kisses Millie’s hand, which is a little awkward as she is his daughter-in-law [4] [6]. However, the reason why Moxxie has never introduced his wife and boss to his father before could be quite troubling, even though the problematic father trope has already been done with Paimon and Cash Buckzo in “The Circus” [56]. Perhaps the trope can apply to Crimson, but for different reasons to avoid the trope being recycled and causing predictably. No offence to Richard Horvitz, but for the voice of Crimson, he could have deepened his voice [4] [6], just like how he did for Harold in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy [12]. Crimson’s portrayal so far in the sneak peek has sparked my curiosity and I wonder how he will be compared to Millie’s parents, as well as Paimon and Cash Buckzo [4] [6] [56].

It looks like the place Crimson resides is in the Greed Ring. His uniform and the fellas who appear to be guards at the front door just reek of mafia boss vibes, much like Mr. Big from Zootropolis [115]. Real gangsters respect their mothers. Capiche? [6]

I almost knew Andrealphus would seem to be an anti-villain as he confronts Stolas for cheating on Stella whilst being quite…bitter witchy to him [4] [6], hinting at his arrogance. However, I know that many hazbeans will still root for my owl daddy [82], considering how controversial Stella became in “The Circus” [56]. Furthermore, I would not be surprised if Andrealphus turns out to be almost just as nasty as her. I did not notice that the faint laugh on the phone at Stolas’ mansion was from him in “Seeing Stars” [54]. His voice reminds me of Stolas’ old voice performed by Brock Baker from the pilot [53]. Perhaps Andrealphus’ debut could take place before the events of “Seeing Stars” to fill in the inconsistency of Stolas and Blitzo’s relationship in the second season so far due to the delay of the second part of the Season One finale [8] [19]. As for Andrealphus’ character in general, he could have supernatural abilities too as predicted in fanmade comics [1] [37]. If you recall a boss battle in either Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night or Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon [10], put up thy controllers because this interpretation is way different [4] [6] [48]. I will be expecting some ASMR roleplays starring the icy Goetia marquis very soon, even though he probably roasts on the Hell equivalent of Twitter Blue.

It will be quite exciting to finally see Andrealphus in action after his reveal last year [8]. Now, why would he look like an ice warlock when Hell is a fiery place of eternal damnation? Well, there is a bottom layer that is absolutely freezing, according to Dante’s Inferno [41], so I guess it makes sense to have a new character capable of striving in an icy climate. While Andrealphus indeed seems arrogant [55], a Disney devotee can technically classify Elsa from Frozen as an anti-villain [23]. [4]

It looks like Stella is still unforgiven by the majority of the fanbase as arguably the most controversial character of the series [56] [57]. The fact that Stolas has a lot of siblings, according to his father and old butler has led to his arranged marriage seeming pointless, which is quite a plot hole unless many of his siblings have been in arranged marriages as well [5] [56]. Looking back at Stella’s villainous portrayal as an abuser in “The Circus”, there was hardly any subtlety in it at all [56] [68], leading to the episode being called out for lacklustre writing. Quite thankfully, there was not any terrible advice on how to deal with an abuser, unlike “The Girlfriend”, the twenty-second episode of the fourth season of The Amazing World Of Gumball [88]. I doubt that Stella would take kindly to pineapple on pizza [58] [95] [96], but at least I would be quite fascinated to see her married to a second husband who is likely to be another Goetia royal in association with revenge cheating [71]. Maybe there can be a redemption arc for her in a third season, despite how unlikely that sounds [44] [78] [99]. At least I had fun briefly spoofing “Santa Baby” during the Christmas break [71] [100] [101].

What can I say? Stella is pretty much the polar opposite of Princess Elise from Sonic ’06 [13] [56] [80]. I am not saying that the writing in Helluva Boss has been as thrilling as the writing in Squid Game in terms of developing characters [78] [93], but at least Stella’s old design from the pilot can be an alternate costume for her in a Helluva Boss fighting game [102]. [4]

Will everything be okay for Sutorasu Ouji [106]? Well, not exactly. Being kidnapped by Striker in another scene, he is calling someone on his phone [4] [6]. Could it be Stella after he forgot to delete her number after the divorce [56]? If Stolas is so powerful [58], then how come Striker managed to hold him hostage [4] [6]? Could he seduce him before doing so, quite like how he almost convinced Blitzo to join him in “The Harvest Moon Festival” [57]? This would be quite similar to how Vincent Brooks was seduced by a mysterious vixen in the game named after her [70] [108]. The battle between I.M.P. and Striker might as well be the gay R-rated equivalent of Mario rescuing Princess Peach [4] [6] [67]. But wait! What is this?! Striker STABS my owl daddy?! It is no wonder many hazbeans suspected that the hand at the end of the previous Season Two trailer is his [51]. Despite the show’s dark humour, I have a feeling that many tears will be shed during a near-death experience [4] [6]. On a lighter note, seeing him offer food to Gunter from Adventure Time on Twitter was just undeniably adorable [83] [97]! My owl daddy told me that I will be okay [84] [107], but will he be after the battle of the imps [4] [6]?

Although Stolas is still my owl daddy and I desperately hope that he will survive after getting stabbed by Striker [4] [6] [82], I am afraid that he has to be called out for his attitude towards imps aside from his Blitzy at some point [21]. The influences of his father would be partially to blame [56]. One new lesson for him could be to not let being a victim of verbal abuse and a kidnapping be an excuse for unintentional classism, along with the flaws of his parenting [21] [28]. On a lighter note, at least he has not once used what can be considered a slur against imps. I am looking at you, Val-Yor [42] [89]. Maybe the same “I’m not always the victim mentality” can apply to Princess Elise if she can be given a second chance in the future of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise [13] [80]. [6]

I have been wanting to see the official debut and portrayal of Barbie Wire, Blitzo’s twin sister in the show for quite a long time after a mention of her from “Spring Broken” [55]. How identical she is still to her brother after some progression from the events of the pilot reminds me of the female equivalent of Rayman who was unfortunately scrapped alongside the outcome of a Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of his first game that sadly never happened [4] [6] [52] [77]. What could she possibly mean by her brother ruining her life? She is also seen fighting Moxxie in his disguise, leading to something more than a sibling rivalry. Speaking of disguises, she can disguise herself as convincingly as Stolas and Loona can [54], which ought to be explained in the episode she will make her debut [4] [6]. Admittedly, I made up a twin sister for Rayman and named her “Stacy” when I was a preteen. As an adult, I am glad to see the portrayal of Loona’s imp auntie will soon be brought into action with a few alternations of her design as hinted at the end of “Ozzie’s” [4] [6] [52]. Besides, I strongly believe that Mimmy White, Hello Kitty’s adorable identical twin sister needs more appreciation too [31] [79].

Barbie Wire’s portrayal could provide a little more depth than Verosika Mayday’s portrayal in “Spring Broken” [55]. One of the series’ criticisms is the very little or mediocre development for the female characters, but I believe Barbie Wire’s portrayal in her debut could be the most complex if he ultimately still sees the good in her brother, which would be a sign of some reasonable criticism being taken. [4]

Being the antiheroic protagonist of Helluva Boss, Blitzo might just earn some more progression. In the sneak peek of the third episode of the second season, he earns Crim’s respect regarding his business [4] [6], like how he gained approval from Striker before he turned out to be an aspiring hitman hired to assassinate Stolas in “The Harvest Moon Festival” [57]. I recall asking myself, “If the Blitzster came from quite a poor family, how was he able to afford to attend college [56] [58]?.” Did his parents eventually get divorced, leading to his mother becoming happier and wealthier? I am pretty sure that he attended a community college as community colleges are less expensive to attend, compared to universities [114]. Perhaps there could be a flashback in a new episode of his time at the community college, along with his relationship with Verosika Mayday before an intense breakup [55]. There also appears to be an argument between him and a certain jester in the trailer that will be briefly discussed a little later [4] [6]. I shall expect more of the Blitzster’s vulgarity and snarky nature in the four new episodes of the second season [33], starting with the third one, but will he come to terms with his sister in another [52]?

Blitzo is impulsive 
He cannot spell, 
Yet he’s a boss in 
The depths in Hell 
He may be reckless, yeah! And not a pimp… 
But the one thing he’s not is a scaredy imp [24]. [6]

And now, back to Moxxie. In a scene of the second work-in-progress trailer, he is ordered to leave Blitzo’s office that seems to have a slight visual upgrade, yet he seems delighted as he closes the doors [4] [6]. He is seen disguised as a teenage girl in another scene and trying to act peppy and stereotypical to go along with it, which potentially makes up for how he and Millie did not wear disguises in “Seeing Stars” [54]. And of course, this is not the first time we saw him in drag [58]. What issue could he have with Crim? What about his mother? Was she the one being murdered in a dream of his, resulting in him gaining Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [53]? Aside from how the reason for his panic attacks ought to be explained at some point with a little subtlety, I still hope he and Millie will remain in love with one another, despite how he can be distracted by art, quite like me [54]. Aside from his faithfulness, something about a new character who asks him a sexual question will be explained later as there must be something that would push him into committing a theft with him as hinted in the previous work-in-progress trailer [49] [51].

All those preps from the Club Penguin days ain’t got nothing on Moxxie [9] [15]! [4]

What can I say about Millie and Loona? It looks like Millie is just as brutal as she has been during her duties as Moxxie’s right-hand queen [4] [6]. She even goes as far as to spit out what appears to be a blue beating heart in the trailer. As for her marriage, I would be delighted to see a flashback of the time Moxxie popped a question, much to me and my fiancé’s empathy [98]. In the trailer, Loona is seen being carried by Blitzo [4] [6]. Her advice to Octavia in “Seeing Stars” may not always be recommendable in real life [54] [76], but I am up for her softer side popping up in a new episode or two, especially when it comes to making up for an argument with the Blitzster. However, the stunt that was pulled when he reunited with her after his live performance in “Seeing Stars” should not be pulled again to help her likability be maintained for the rest of the second season [18] [74]. As a sucker for female empowerment who would love to see an official crossover with Lara Croft and Wonder Woman [2], I would be pumped for some more girl power in any of the four upcoming episodes of Helluva Boss [4] [6].

We are also yet to see if Loona is still crushing on Vortex from “Spring Broken” or not [55], which would have been possible for those outside of SpindleHorse by now if it was not for the legal issues regarding the eight episode’s postponement [8]. Maybe the next adoption anniversary gift for her from Blitzo can be better than a flock of spiders [53]. [4]

Anything to say about some other demons? We get to see Fizzarolli and Asmodeus and a mysterious new character who was previously revealed in a preview for the new episode being hinted at in the sneak peek [4] [6]. The new character’s name is “Chaz”, yet the design of his jacket made me refer to him as “Bones” at first and he seems to have the hots for Moxxie as previously hinted in the previous trailer [49] [51] [66]. He could be his ex-boyfriend, even though he spelt his name wrong in one of his signs. What connection could he have with Crimson? As for Fizzarolli and Ozzie, it appears that they reside together and must be in a relationship as hinted in “Ozzie’s” [4] [6] [52]. There also appears to be an argument between Fizzarolli and Blitzo possibly before a moment of them performing together, leading to some further character progression for them in terms of what happened to cause their childhood friendship to be destroyed. Lastly, the official design of Mammon was revealed during the Christmas break, along with a hint about the way he talks, leading to the likeliness of him speaking in an Australian accent [38]. I would be interested to see some exploration of Fizzarolli and Asmodeus’ relationship, along with the portrayals of new fiends [4] [6] [49].

Fizzarolli’s expression here is pricelessly adorable. He also appears to be pulling a stunt as he is surrounded by an audience near the end of the trailer [4] [6]. How functional will his relationship with Ozzie be in general? [4]

Aside from the portrayals of Chaz and Mammon, I am also curious about Adam, an exterminator who is yet to appear in Hazbin Hotel [29]. [38]

I hope that the four new episodes can be written better than “The Circus” and “Seeing Stars” and help the second season excel even further [4] [6]. The writing of “Seeing Stars” may have poked another plot hole regarding the power of his grimoire, considering how powerful he was without the use of it in “Truth Seekers” unless the apparent limitations might be caused by his human disguise [54] [58] [105], but it seems like some extra effort will be put into the rest of the second season as it has been five months since the release of “Seeing Stars” [4] [54], which would be unmistakably enlightening. Surely, some of the jokes in the series seemed kind of like playing Cards Against Humanity [25], but there can still be some new depths and meanings throughout the rest of the second season. I have held onto the optimistic hope of the second season’s writing becoming even better for many viewers, but no matter how much I hope, I shall not use leaked information as part of research to respect the hardworking team at SpindleHorse and if a hazbean prefers the continuity of the pilot and Voxtagram stories from 2020 that consists of Stella’s old design, that is absolutely okizay [7] [16] [43] [53] [73]. 

It is okay to point out what you personally think is flawed in an episode [18] [68] [76]. Just because an episode is a little flawed to a degree, does not mean you cannot enjoy a new season at all. Besides, there have only been two episodes of the second season of Helluva Boss so far and there is a lot of potential for it to become even better. [56]

Before the reveal of the trailer, I felt like nobody wanted me to be happy with being a hazbean anymore [69] [75] [76] [104]. As previously mentioned, I vowed to not use any of the leaked information for research out of respect towards SpindleHorse [7] [73]. Just because I adore Helluva Boss, does not mean I am its “simp” or “hive-minded” or that I am giving bad writing a “free pass” [69] [103]. I found the writing of the first season of Mr. Pickles choppy with over-reliance on shock value [86], but I found it better in the second season. I may sound like I have no idea how production works when hoping for improvement and the number of perspectives in “Seeing Stars” was not as impressively handled as “Crime After Crime”, the eighth episode of the third season of Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends [27] [36] [54], but opinions are opinions and you do not always have to agree with a critic. I am always up for witnessing further progression, despite minor issues, such as inconsistent marketing [26]. After all, I have watched animated television shows with some episodes that had better writing than others as beloved shows can still have their weaknesses, such as the weakest skits in Stupid being the character Vince trying to get his parents divorced [61] [62].

I still stand by my warning to the Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss fandom after the release of “Seeing Stars” [54] [94]. On a lighter note, I had too much fun tweeting a parody of All-Star by Smashmouth back in October [22]. Moreover, I bet there will be another fan zine to read the hell out of [45]. [54]

In conclusion, a new trailer for the rest of the second season of Helluva Boss is even more promising than the previous one [4] [6] [51]. There will be more stories to tell in Storytellerthis March [3] [112] [113]. Will the second season’s writing improve for some fellow critics? And will Agent Elvis be a thrilling escape from Heartbreak Hotel on Netflix [64]? As much as I do not want Stolas of the Ars Goetia to die, I am curious to see how Blitzo and Moxxie would count their kikigai [63]. Regardless of a show slowly losing popularity [32], there can still be a crowd who admires it almost unconditionally. Besides, even as a former creepypasta fan, I understand that creepypasta is still relevant to some readers to this day [34] [64]. I also hope my fellow simmers continue to enjoy celebrating twenty-three years of The Sims [90]. As much as I do not want Stolas of the Ars Goetia to die [4] [6] [51] [57], I am curious to see how Blitzo, Moxxie and Loona would count their kikigai [63]. I swear that being a fan of Helluva Boss does not make me “easy to manipulate” or “a butthurt idiot” [76], much like how letting Deadpool break the fourth wall in my articles on him did not break my sanity [40] [111]. Stay sinful, fellow sinners.

There might be a time when I eventually “grow out of this phase”, but I will always be grateful for Medrano’s hellish creations have helped me cope through some troubling times [104]. [4]

Medrano’s decision to not upload the trailer onto her YouTube channel must be to make it extra special [14] [47]. As much as I bet that the episode will be worth the wait, especially some new musical numbers [81], I hope Stolas will have a nice slice of rooibos apple pie on his birthday this year [86]. [4]
