Barbie: The Movie – Achieving More With Potential To Bloom A Sequel

According to that episode of the third season of South Park that featured a direct parody of Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace [94], I needed a heart valve operation [82]. If it was not for said operation, I would not be here to reflect on the success of Barbie: The Movie once again as more awards are won [12] [15] [16] [17] [18]. I know that a lot of possibilities on how a sequel possibly titled “Barbie 2” or a spin-off centred on Ken discovering his own identity titled after him have been explained already [108] [121], but I believe there can be a few more possible elements to elaborate on [21]. 2024 marks the 65th anniversary of the Barbie franchise [6] [10] [93], [96] as well as Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and it was the plastic starlet’s birthday not too long ago [41] [42] [92]. During the run of the second season of Monster High on Nickelodeon and the fun of the second season of the fifth chapter of Fortnite: Battle Royale [38] [71], let us list more of the achievements earned by Greta Gerwig’s feminist phenomenon and squeeze in a few more possibilities on how a follow-up can provide some significance in a few years’ time, preferably after the establishment of a Broadway musical adaptation [110] [112].

Looking at this design reminds me of the doll that was designed and manufactured in honour of Barbie’s 60^thanniversary, which was celebrated in 2019 [6] [58] [106]. Candy pink and magenta balloons ought to rain down on her in honour of her 65^th year of glamour and encouragement as the rare first edition of her debut is displayed at London’s Design Museum while we bow to Her Majesty Queen Camilla as a doll [9] [19] [104] [105]. Isn’t it coincidental how the photograph of a Barbie doll for promoting the Oscars is about the same look as the talented and lovely Margot Robbie’s look for the 30^th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nearly a month ago…or was that intentional [7] [11] [99]? And yes, many others were dressed amazingly at the Oscars too [81]. Speaking of Robbie’s fashionability, Barbie: The World Tour will be released next week [60]! It could be as if Barbie never left Barbie Land [7]! [60]

Even more achievements earned by members of the creative team listed one by one on social media include: 

• The Zeitgeist Award from this year’s Casting Society Aritos Awards [16]
• Two Guild Of Music Supervisors awards [12]
• The Maxwell Weinberg Award for Motion Picture Publicity Campaign [17] [45]
• The Academy Award for Best Original Song (that was also performed at the ceremony [30]) [18]
• The Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film [15]

Again, I hardly give a darn about how “rigged” award ceremonies seem as people are simply entitled to their own opinions [109], even though there could be some deceitfulness underneath a layer of hard work as Nefera De Nile was stripped from her previous fearleading championship awards after being exposed for cheating near the end of the second part of “Monster Mashionals”, the thirty-sixth episode of the second volume of Monster Highwebisodes from the franchise’s first generation [69]. Ultimately, we can still declare our own winners without hassling anyone for their own nominations and tossing the term “rigged” around in an irrational manner [109]. There are a few more entertainment award ceremonies to come later this year, including the Olivier Awards and the 76^th Writers Guild Awards this April [74] [122], so let us stay tuned!

Oppenheimer, Barbie’s meme partner has been successful at the 96^th Annual Oscars, also known as the “Academy Awards”, earning seven awards [27] [75], including the award for Best Director given to Christopher Nolan [76], the award for Best Actor handed to Cillian Murphy and the award for Best Supporting Actor earned by Robert Downey Jr. [20] [37] [77] [78]. [75]

Ryan Gosling was not only just Ken but a natural as he performed “Just Ken” in a dashing hot pink outfit at this year’s Oscars [4] [24] [29] [102]. I cannot say that it is as quirkily memorable as JOHN CENA presenting the award for Best Costume Design in his birthday suit though [1] [52]. But in all seriousness, if only there could be more open-mindedness and respect towards animated films at the Oscars these days as characters from award-winning animated films have made special appearances in many annuals [35] [87]. At least there was some kindness at this year’s ceremony as there was some aid for Liza Koshy right after she slipped on the red carpet [34]. [49]

Chances are that “Stereotypical” Barbie is aroace, meaning that she is both asexual and aromantic due to her lack of interest in having a relationship with “Beach” Ken [7] [31]. There could be some evidence to support that theory in a direct sequel or spin-off as she makes the most of her new life as a human, especially if Ken vows to find his own identity whilst crushing on a new Barbie in Barbie Land. As appreciative as many hazbeans are towards Alastor, the charming radio demon from Hazbin Hotel being asexual [63], that seems to be, unfortunately, overshadowed by his villainous side and the controversy surrounding voodoo symbols associated with his demonic abilities [46] [63] [85] [86] [113] [114]. I still stand by my theory that Blitzo from Helluva Boss is aromantic due to his lack of romantic interest aside from his promiscuity as we hazbeans know that he is pansexual [43] [55] [65] [117] [118], just like Deadpool, another antihero [111]. Asexual, aromantic and aroace representation is as important as homosexual and transgender representation, so perhaps Barbra Handler’s new life can provide some more hints of her possible asexuality and aromaticism for some passable representation [3]. To quote Kelly, an icon from old-school YouTube, no booty calls [95]!

Aside from more signs of Barbie being aroace, even as a human in the real world [3] [7] [31], I would be touched to see some further depth for Gloria in a direct sequel or spin-off as she showed signs of depression and suicidality before she met Barbie and gave her speech in Barbie Land in the film [7] [50]. Besides, those matters should not be taken lightly. [14]

About two months ago, it was revealed that Sharon Stone proposed the idea of a live-action Barbie movie at some point in the 1990s [36] [84], the time when Mattel’s plastic icon starred in some short-lived comic book series from Marvel [57]. If you think about it, a live-action Barbiemovie developed in the 1990s would have been drastically different (and notably corny or cheesy to a certain extent, especially if it had not been written effectively) [7]. Perhaps a follow-up to Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar success can feature Stone as a supporting actress or a co-writer to make up for the unfair ridicule she received for her failed pitch at the time after a few agreements [21] [36] [48] [84]. Aside from a new princess castle in Barbie Land that could be an all-pink equivalent of the exterior of the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast attraction that is based on the Beast’s castle from one of Disney’s most beloved animated classics in the Fantasyland expansion of Tokyo Disneyland [39] [98] [100], getting Sharon Stone involved in a direct sequel to Barbie: The Movie, a spin-off film centred on Ken or a television series expanding on the glamour of Barbie Land can help her shrug off the rejection of her pitch for a live-action Barbie movie in the 1990s [36] [84], a decade many of us miss like crazy nonetheless [123]. 

Can you imagine living in an alternate universe when the idea of a live-action Barbie movie was accepted and established in the mid-1990s, there was an expansion pack for The Sims 2 titled “The Sims 2 Castaway” in the late 2000s and the iconic McDonald’s emblem is primarily teal, just like the one seen in Sedona, Arizona in this universe [33] [44] [66] [97] [107]? [90]

As we applaud this year’s winners and nominees [5], let us continue to value the strengths and ambitions of women in this world [62]. After all, Barbie’s birthday is the day after International Women’s Day…or in a metalhead’s case in Birmingham, International Women’s Slay [40] [89] [103]. Furthermore, the development of a new Super Mario film that is likely to be a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie was announced on this year’s Mario Day [23] [25] [54] [73], the same day as this year’s Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom [22], along with the broadcast of the 96^th Annual Oscars and the day after Barbie’s birthday, which leads to some speculation of Princess Peach remaining self-empowered and Princess Daisy being Luigi’s mentor [115] [116] [119] [120]. It will not be long until the launch of the highly anticipated Princess Peach Showtime! for our Nintendo nerds who have adored Peach for as long as they can remember the day before another awesome weekend at MegaCon in Birmingham [61] [72] [80]. And speaking of blonde-haired princesses, do not forget to also with Disney’s iconic incarnation of Sleeping Beauty a sweeter 65^th as well [109]! Be sure to embrace some Barbiecore if you plan to attend Barbie: The Movie in Concert this Summer [8] [13]. Oh! And have you checked out the stylish collaboration between Barbie and Kipling yet [50]?

Despite the mixed to negative reception of the musical reboot of Mean Girls based on the stage musical adaptation of the original movie from 2004 [68] [110], the mean ghouls ought to watch their backs and two plumbers ought to watch theirs as their cinematic universe is set to expand in April 2026 [69] [73] [67]. Who knows when Barbie Land will be expanded and Ken will find his own identity [21], even with a new love interest [108], resulting in another adorable batch of Funko Pop! figures [79]? Perhaps a new brunette “Stereotypical” Barbie in a blue dress can be played by Emma Stone who won the Oscar for “Best Actress” this year and they could be the most enriching couple since Malcolm Landgraab IV and Dina Caliente in The Sims 2, according to some of my fellow simmers [26] [28] [88] [108]. [79]

But alas, plenty of us prefer a prequel centred on the creation of Barbie Land or just not see a continuation established at all [53] [56]. In the meantime, let us continue to celebrate the plastic starlet’s 65^th anniversary and feel free to try demonicas’ 2000s girls’ quiz during the short wait for the Monster High edition of UNO [32] [70]. Especially after tuning into some girl power in Princess Peach Showtime! the day after the edition’s release [72] [80], feel free to re-experience The Super Mario Bros. Movie in cinemas this June [101]. Oh! And would you believe that it has been a year since we watched and reviewed the third episode of the second season of Helluva Boss [64] [91] [117] [118]? I guess I can still look forward to the eighth one titled “Full Moon” later this year [47], despite how aggravating drama in a fandom can be [46]. Barbie: The Movie – Overachieving Outstandingly As A Feminist Phenomenon

2024 marks the 65th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty [150], but let us hope that Merryweather, one of the good fairies will not make all the pink things in Barbie Land blue, especially during its corruption into Kendom [62] [120]. Pinky from the MySims series would love that though [65] [102]! It is quite impactful to reflect on how I have gone from playing Detective Barbie In the Mystery of the Carnival Caper at my grandparents’ house to reflecting on the overwhelming success of the live-action film about Mattel’s plastic icon having an existential crisis [91] [143]. The film would have been entirely different if it had been distributed by Universal Pictures or Sony and released at some point in the 2010s…or if it came out in 2007 [50] [84] [151]. Choosing between Barbie and Oppenheimer in Summer 2023 was quite like an image of two lines of toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals; one aimed at boys and the other aimed at girls I would see as a child back in the day [67] [86] [92] [118] [154]. Nevertheless, gender roles suck and you can be a fan of any franchise you adore, regardless of your gender. Sometime after dinner with Stolas from Helluva Boss [111], it is time to turn up the Barbiecore once again in the Pisces season as we continue to reflect on the success of the live-action Barbie film directed by Greta Gerwig, one of our women of the year [42] [56] [73] [75] [87]. 

Look at these two meme buddies standing wholesomely together on the official McDonald’s Ecuadorean Twitter account back in Summer 2023 [96] [100]. And yes, Barbie: The Movie is not Greta Gerwig’s only film about a young woman’s crisis and the obsession with it has not stopped, especially during the run of the Barbie Career of the Year Women in Film series [13] [14] [15] [117]. While our young consumers are surprised by a new range of Polly Pocket compact toys [90], I hope all the Barbies who like their pink drinks hot and all the Barbies who like their pink drinks iced have had another best day ever in Barbie Land [18] [122]. Better not let one out of her box though [126]. [100]

More of the film and its creative team’s achievements continue to be listed one by one on social media [25] [29] [32] [39] [43] [149], including: 

• Six People’s Choice Awards, including “Movie of the Year” [19]
• The BizBash award for “Best TV or Film Premiere Event” [30] [146]
• Eight Academy Award Nominations [38]
• The SDSA award for Best Achievement in Decor/ Design in a Fantasy or Science Fiction film [44]
• Four Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations [41]
• The Thirteenth AACTA Award for “Best Film” [4]
• The AACTA Audience Choice Award for “Favourite Film” [3]

Oppenheimer, the film’s R-rated meme partner based on the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s involvement in the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II and its creative team have been successful at this year’s BAFTA Awards as seven awards were won [9] [46] [96] [106] [107]. In all honesty, I hardly care how “rigged” award ceremonies are as people are simply entitled to their opinions and you can always declare your own winners [133] [134]. Please do not take me back to the year 2016, Doc Brown [7] [114]! However, since perspectives change from time to time and exposures eventually get revealed, some successes could turn out to bedeceitful [80] [85] [121] [127]. But as for Barbie: The Movie and a few other amazing films that excelled in 2023, I believe that the awards they achieved were quite deserved to some extent [2], even though some aspects of their developments were not all that peachy [55]. 

Yes, even the awards Waterloo Road achieved throughout the years seem deserved to some extent [142], despite how I was experiencing some “inspiration” from the series against my will when I was about fifteen years old [140]. A British version of Mean Girls would be quite amusing though [57]. Even more achievements earned by the creative crew of Barbie: The Movie include the Golden Globe Award for “Best Original Song” [24], an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song” and the Society Of Composers & Lyricists Award for “Outstanding Original Song” [26] [45], which is no wonder why some of us suspect that it could be adapted into a stage musical possibly before a direct chronological follow-up in a few years’ time [143] [145]. Do not forget to show admiration for animated films that are worthy of winning awards too [2] [8]! [27]

The plot of the film was parodied in an advert for the 96th Annual Oscars that will air an hour earlier on ABC on the 10th of March [81]. It stars Jimmy Kimmel who gets lost on the way to Oscarsland, a direct parody of Barbie Land focused on the nominees for a range of achievement titles, including Poor Things. Weird Barbie becomes his guide after asking what kind of “Ken” he is in a rather infatuated manner. As the duo arrive at Carnegie Hall in the weird wagon after a colourful montage of bizarre landscapes that reference other successful films in 2023 besides Barbie: The Movie, most notably Oppenheimer [106], America Ferrera gives a parody of Gloria’s speech on how difficult it can be being a woman in society centred on being a host for the Oscars [18] [81]. With Kenough Kenergy, Ryan Gosling pops up from the back seats of the weird wagon as a callback to Ken surprising Barbie on the way to the real world. Aside from Barbie: The Movie getting nominated for eight awards at the upcoming 96th Annual Oscars [1], the advert is still a brilliant spoof that highlighted Weird Barbie’s comedic nature and so on with some creative elements [81]. 

Kimmel sure had a wild ride with Weird Barbie [81]. Some of you may recall other forms of creativity associated with these award ceremonies, such Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story franchise presenting the award for “Best Animated Short” at the 72nd Annual Oscars in 2000 and the main cast of South Park making special guest appearances at the 19th and Last-Ever Annual Cable Ace Awards to present the award for “Best Talk Show Series” in 1997 [53] [108] [123] [152]. Barbie: The Movie can always be nominated for rose gold Oscars resembling a woman known as “Octavias”, “Oksanas” or “Odessas” in Barbie Land [110] [131]. [81]

2024 also marks the 60th anniversary of the debut of Allan, Ken’s buddy [10]. You do not suspect that a marmot is calling out this name [46], no? Some of my fellow 2000s kids may recall him as Midge’s husband and Ryan’s father in the Happy Family line [145]. Again, if Barbie: The Movie is “anti-male propaganda”, then how come Allan Pilgrim got sick of the patriarchal takeover and helped Barbie, Gloria and Sasha restore the essences of girl power in Barbie Land [34] [137]? I still believe he can be an empathetic ally of “Beach” Ken who can find his own identity in a spin-off series or sequel though [151]. In the meantime, his classic doll form from 1964 is available to pre-order [10]. I am glad that the film gave Allan a lot more attention [18], especially before the 60th anniversary of his debut in the Barbie franchise [10]. Call me crazy, but in a sequel or a threequel, perhaps he can be employed as a police officer alongside a new Barbie referred to as “Officer Barbie” in Barbie Land tracking down a criminal in Barbie Land but let us save our hopes for a faithfully fresh follow-up film for next year or two [49] [151]. 

In the meantime, Allan can remain a great reality dating show host and a therapist for the Kens [11]. And let us not forget to wish the Strawberry Shortcake franchise a happy 45th anniversary and Cadbury a happy 200th anniversary too [54] [125]! [10]

Can you imagine Barbie Land expanding with some pink castles like Craigievar Castle, one of the magnificent historical castles in Scotland [61] [103]? I think there ought to be more pink essences in Barbie Land [5] [36], such as a new car in a coat of hot pink, the colour of the hype for the film in production that also became a Summer fashion trend in 2022 [70] [73] [130] [138]. Oh! And do not forget some lovely shades and tints of purple, including lilac and lavender. Aside from a few princes, princesses and mermaids in Barbie Land [21] [23] [35] [51], there could also be an enchanted forest where Fairy Barbies reside and cast magic spells [48] [82] [101]. But wait! What if one of the Fairy Barbies…could turn anything pink into blue [62] [120]?! There can still be some elements of Kendom as Stephen Colbert has been knighted by Ryan Gosling for having plenty of Kenergy [128]. As grateful as I was for no longer feeling imprisoned in some Waterloo Road wannabe [140], I would be delighted to see more of Barbie Land if the movie evolves into its own franchise that should hopefully not seem “milked to death” and “a cash cow”, but simply create new opportunities for characters and new elements of creativity [151]. Again, let us save our wishes for a great sequel for its official announcement.

Barbie Land could also be expanded with not only stables for the horses during the Kendom takeover and new unicorns for Horse Rider Barbies to ride but various things coated in rose gold…or pink gold if you like to race as Pink Gold Peach in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe [22] [104] [105]. After all, the movie received five BAFTA nominations, including “Best Production Design” [28], despite another snub [132]. In the meantime, those who strolled through Ken Street in Toronto nearly a year ago can reflect on that [139]. And if a Barbie prefers light blue or teal over pink [20], she can rock some stylish pumps styled after Hatsune Miku from Mayla because of Barbie doll logic [18] [93] [94] [95]. Could a Princess Barbie be named “Amelia” [16] [17]? [139]

Despite my bitterness towards Waterloo Road [140], I can cut the third, fourth and fifth series some slack for portraying an autistic student pretty well [141]. I would be delighted to see an autistic human who recalls being infatuated with Barbie dolls in a sequel or threequel to Barbie: The Movie, as long as the big mistakes that were made in Music will not be made again [79]. Yet again, we will just have to wait and see in a few years’ time [151]. [141]

Barbie: The Movie deserves its success for its creativity and depth [27] [28] [31] [33] [37] [40] [76]. But still, a sequel centred on Ken will come in handy for sorting out the problem its political satire unintentionally caused [135]. Moreover, there can be more effective and rational ways to discuss sexism than some examples I have witnessed [52]. And yes, there could perhaps be a threequel to Barbie: The Movie after a sequel centred on Ken excels in fixing what was considered “misandristic propaganda” and helping him find his own identity [25], much like how there could be a threequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie after its well-deserved sequel does well with an honourable portrayal of Yoshi and so on [147] [148] [150]. Speaking of threequels, there is a lot of hype for Deadpool & Wolverine that can be accelerated by the release of Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII in May [63] [88] [89] [144]. In the meantime, be sure to check out some new Harley Quinn Funko! Pop figures that are currently available to pre-order [71] [113], along with a twin pack with Poison Ivy that was released before Valentine’s Day in honour of what can be considered my favourite ship in DC history and feel free to state your thoughts on the animated film titled “Barbie And Stacie To The Rescue” coming to Netflix a week before my birthday this March [12] [72]. Good luck back in reality [35], even if it makes me want to shriek and yank your hair out sometimes.

It would be funny if Stella and her brother Andrealphus from Helluva Boss argued over which colour a dress for Octavia on her eighteenth birthday should be; pink or blue [99] [112] [120]. Moxxine sure loves hot pink but considers a softer tint of pink “basic” [98]. At least a lighter shade always makes the sakura falls in Japan so heavenly in the Spring [109]. Near this year’s Spring, there will be a Barbiemania at Electric Ballroom in London next Saturday and a “Mother Sunday” screening of Barbie: The Movie alongside a Pink Party Bar at Bristol Aquarium just before the 96th Annual Oscars ceremony airs [64] [66] [81]. As for me, I shall look forward to the rest of the second season of Helluva Boss throughout the rest of 2024 after this year’s steamy Valentine’s Day-themed merchandise sales [97] [124] [144]. [64]

It is undeniable how revolutionary Barbie has been for sixty-five years [145]. As for her live-action cinematic hit and other movies that were released in 2023, let us be good sports about snubs at award ceremonies and not blatantly throw the term “rigged” around like sore losers [133] [134]. Besides, I may be an iPhone user, but I hold no bias against Samsung phones [69] [78] [136]. Until then, some ASMR from the friendly fuzzy pink monster named “Cosmo” might be up your alley if you are currently feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders [58] [59] [60]. Moreover, keep the Barbie and Ken ASMR vibes coming, ASMR artists [6] [60] [74] [83]! Lastly, beyond the prettiness of Barbie Land, there will be crystal creations in a new stuff pack for The Sims 4 the day after next week [129]. Imagine if Fauna made Aurora’s dress about as green as an inspired plumbob [62] [65] [120] [129]! Oh! Unboxing More Hopes For “Barbie 2” Or “Ken”

Barbie: The Movie is officially the highest-grossing film distributed by Warner Bros. of all time [35] [101], which makes up for its concept’s previous failed attempts at being taken into action [10] [80]. Can you imagine if the movie was distributed by Universal Pictures and released in the early 2010s…or distributed by Sony and released in the late 2010s? It would have been a way different experience, indeed. If you think about it, a few internet memes can be thanked for its hype throughout 2023 besides its ambitious marketing [66] [67] [68] [125], including the appearance of a pink TARDIS in London [116]. Near its theatrical release earlier this year, I adored the feature on Google that causes the page to turn light pink as magenta sparkles appear when the user searches “barbie” or “barbie movie” [55]. The film’s popularity even resulted in so many pink recipes on Instagram [7] [21] [33] [61] [74] [84] [94]. The pink empowerment from Nicki Minaj, one of the rappers who performed “Barbie World” continued as she became a special guest in the fifth season of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile [6] [22] [23] [24]. Due to how successful Barbie: The Movie turned out to be, there has been some speculation of how a billion dollars at the box office will result in a sequel or spin-off film…that can be done right [124] [125].

I know what you might be thinking. Really, Laura? ANOTHER article on what can be seen in a follow-up to Barbie: The Movie [124] [125]?! I know, but I believe that there is some more to discuss in terms of hoping that an unnecessary but passably faithful sequel or a more necessary spin-off in terms of furthering redeeming Ken Wilder can somewhat leave the same enlightening impact in the future and not end up like the least acclaimed Disney sequels and a few other sequels that were considered flops [3] [19] [20]. On the other doll’s hand, the second round of the origin could feature a modern equivalent of the classic swimsuit that could either be from the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine from 2014 that was part of celebrating its 50th anniversary but made some readers skeptical or the brief recreation from 2009 that was part of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Barbie franchise to make it familiar yet fresh during the start of a sequel [11] [30] [96]. I am aware that “Stereotypical” Barbie’s origin that was first shown as a teaser trailer was meant to be a parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey for laughs [6] [10] [79] [113], but perhaps there can be a flashback scene set in 1959 during the first few sales of the first-ever Barbie doll at the beginning of “Barbie 2” or the first episode of “Barbie: The Series” for some effectiveness and more depth of “Stereotypical” Barbie’s character during her doll days.

Contrary to what some people have deplorably claimed [44], being emotional does NOT affect a woman’s intelligence. Although the extended theme of feminism ought to be not too preachy in “Barbie 2”, it can still be validated as Barbara continues to flourish as a human in the real world and aims to strive for gender equality rather than just empowering women [6] [125]. [10]

“Beach” Ken has the potential to be more than just an accessory and to play a more respectable and relatable role in “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series” [6] [13] [124] [125]. Let us not forget about Allan Pilgrim who might just play the perfect supporting role and could empathise with him during a new era of Barbie Land [6] [59] [93]. What sort of alliance could they have with “Sugar Daddy” Ken and “Earring Magic” Ken? As praiseworthy as the elements of feminism are in Barbie Land, it is important to understand that misandry is not a true part of feminism. After all, men can be feminists too. Surely, “Stereotypical” Barbie does not need another existential crisis, but there ought to not be a sign of a Ken being corrupted by an exaggerated patriarchy that led to building a wall to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the land again. As stereotypical as this sounds, I would not be surprised if the 3D effects of the logo for “Ken” would be a vibrant shade of blue and the logo’s style would be just like the logo for Barbie: The Movie [118]. More importantly, it would still make more sense to make a spin-off titled “Ken” to make up for the accusations of misandry and “wokeness” Barbie: The Movie has received [8] [124].

“Beach” Ken also has the potential to strive for gender equality within further redemption [6]. In the real world in real life, gender equality ought to apply to both genders, along with non-binary people and those on the autism spectrum as we remain aware of the people around us [130]. [10]

Who else could possibly be part of a new addition to the cast? Perhaps Gal Gabot (who is known for playing the role of Diana Prince in Wonder Woman) can be another new Barbie or even a Teresa in Barbie Land (or Monterrey, according to Matthew Patrick) to make up for a missed opportunity during a busy schedule at the time [86] [131], which could also apply to Amy Schumer [10]. Making a new Barbie played by a competent new cast member have the occupation of a computer engineer without the assistance of a Ken can make up for a certain controversy [11]. As for some new Kens, one can be played by Cillian Murphy to not only be a brief reference to the Barbenheimer meme but also a chance to make up for the offence caused by some uses of it in Japan [58] [60] [68] [112]. Could Tom Holland, Chris Evans or Chris Pratt provide the same Kenergy [4] [56] [69] [70]? There are a lot of choices when it comes to introducing new Barbies and Kens in “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series” as there have been so many dolls throughout the years, but it would be wise to adapt or even satirise more of the arguably most memorable ones [124] [125].

Which shade of tint of pink will any of the new Barbies in Barbie Land wear in “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series” [6] [49] [114]? Which beauty trends would they follow as dolls? Which era of the Barbie franchise would they be stylised in [2] [12] [15] [40] [54] [79]? Of course, not all the Princess Barbies have to be like Princess Aurora [75]. [10]

And who would have thought Scott Pilgrim would be the only Allan in Barbie Land [59] [80] [114]? But in all seriousness, I believe that it would not hurt to have a stunt double in the cast for slapstick in the sequel or spin-off to prevent a certain accident from happening again [10]. [10]

Any more ideas on how Barbie Land can be expanded? Reflecting on my suggestion to establish a monarchy in Barbie Land as a reference to the animated films based on Barbie as various princesses [7] [124], possibly including Rapunzel and Annalise from Barbie as The Princess and The Pauper [7], the castle for all Princess Barbies to rule can alternatively be as pink and regal as the Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland Paris known as “Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant” [45]. And surely, the depictions of horses that occurred during the corruption of Barbie Land that transformed it into “Kendom” can still be around in “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series” possibly alongside depictions of unicorns. Reflecting on Matthew Patrick’s theory on Barbie Land being a metaphor for Mattel’s factory in Monterrey [86], perhaps a new Barbie or a new Ken can speak Spanish as a second language for many others but without repeating the controversy a certain “Mexican” Barbie doll caused back in 2013 [11] [31] [32]. Why not include a pink swimming pool by a new dreamhouse as well, but without the need for pink dye as the water in Barbie Land…is solid [6] [17] [18] [82] [98]? Surely, Barbie Land can feature some new buildings and such in a sequel, spin-off or television series [124].

Look at this glorious flag [9]! Can you imagine an alternative costume for Liberty Belle, Blossom’s alter-ego from the episode of the third season of The Powerpuff Girls titled “Sub-Zeroes” based on its design [99]? [9]

One of the most blow-minding aspects of Barbie: The Movie is that the talented and experienced Will Ferrell who played the role of the CEO of Mattel also played the role of the father in The LEGO Movie and both notably successful films are distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures [6] [77] [78] [97]. I know there is a Mega Bloks line based on Barbie’s lifestyle [110], but it would still be cool to see an official LEGO playset based on a new building in Barbie Land in “Barbie 2” [26] [50] [62]. Moreover, there is a fan theory explaining how the father in The LEGO Movie is the same person as the CEO of Mattel from Barbie: The Movie (and also Buddy from Elf [48]) for a reason [16] [29]. But whether the theory is true or not, there can be a little more exploration for the CEO of Mattel, especially when it comes to providing some details on his family life outside of work [6]. He could decide to take a little more consideration for Ken’s role throughout Barbie’s history in “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series”.  If there are enough predictions of a sequel or spin-off being released during the Winter season, there might as well be a scene of a Barbie or Ken doll being unwrapped by possibly a young relative of the CEO on Christmas Day [48].

The theory of Barbie: The Movie and the two LEGO movies taking place in the same universe is much like the theory of Samurai Jack taking place in the future of Townsville, the home city of The Powerpuff Girls [53]. As far-fetched as some theories would be despite some coincidences that would be convincing evidence, it would be imperative to ensure that further developments for even temporary antagonists can leave some effective impact in terms of letting a continuity flourish. You do not suppose there will be South Pole elves at Mattel this holiday season [6] [48]? [10]

Anything else to consider aside from more respect for the Kens? Sasha’s criticisms towards “Stereotypical” Barbie when they first meet in the movie were pretty harsh [6], but they would be mostly agreeable to those who recall becoming skeptical after growing out of playing with Barbie dolls [11]. Well, apart from Sasha calling Barbie a “fascist”, which was pretty uncalled for [6]. To help maintain the elements of satire in “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series”, there might as well be some jabs at the common criticisms towards some modern Barbie dolls in Barbie Land, such as painted on clothes and plastic clothes [14]. Aside from that, it would be advisable to mostly address what was “the elephant in the room” in the first film [124], yet we still need to value the explanation of why feminism can be still important when certain people continue to make horrible claims on social media [41] [42] [32] [44] [83]. Nonetheless, getting “offended” for the pettiest reasons is so 2016 [89]. While it is important to appreciate realistic beauty standards in today’s society to prevent eating disorders and self-esteem issues, I hold no ill will against those who confidently enjoy looking like Barbies and Kens and even wish to live a similar lifestyle to them in a realistic way and I wish them the best in life [104] [105] [106] [107] [108] [109].

Aside from how “the elephant in the room” can be eventually taken to a jungle to relish in freedom [124], I would love to see an autistic Barbie in Barbie Land to ensure further diversity and equality [122] [130]. [10]

How about some hopes for remarkably ambitious marketing for “Barbie 2” or “Ken” [122]? Aside from the previously mentioned possibility of the modernised adaption of the late ‘50s swimsuit look on a new doll resembling Robbie [51], there might as well be a few gaming-related promotions [57], such as a sugary crossover event in Candy Crush Soda Saga, Candy Crush Jelly Saga or Candy Crush Friends Saga for promoting “Barbie 2” or “Ken” as a rehash of the Barbie: The Movie event in Candy Crush Saga in July [26] [63] [64] [65] [122]. Although, it can be argued that a deeply effective slogan would be more meaningful in terms of marketing a film than a promotional crossover [122] [126] [127]. A slogan for “Barbie 2” like “She still has something.” or a slogan for “Ken” like “He will be more than just Ken.” can provide a deep meaning of a new premise, quite like how the slogan for the Tomb Raiderboldly and emotionally summed up a younger Lara Croft’s character with “A survivor is born” [10] [102]. Chances are that the marketing for a sequel or spin-off film will not be as big and effective as the first film but let us not be too surprised if “Beach” Ken becomes a battler in a new chapter of Fortnite if it maintains its popularity for more than another lustrum [126] [127].

What a missed opportunity to turn the popcorn pink before the film started in this image [52] [74]. As sure as I am that the game will not be shut down anytime soon due to its ongoing popularity [26], I am sure that plenty of candy crushers who still have an appetite for playing Candy Crush Saga still have a sweet tooth for its sequels that are also likely to still be around in a few years’ time [63] [64] [65]. Alternatively, there can be another collaboration with Barbie in a future event in any of the Candy Crush games in association with promoting “Barbie: The Series”. [26]

And how cool was THIS giveaway [122]?! [132]

Barbie has gone from a doll in a striped swimsuit whose figure would be deemed problematic to the most profitable film star of the year [6] [11] [124] [125]. Aside from how bewildering it is to know that a live-action film based on the Barbie franchise has made so much money at the box office after being brought into action, a new “vampire queen” look for Draculaura from the Monster High franchise is now available to pre-order exclusively on Amazon [37] [76] [87]. It will not be long until Barbie: The Movie will once again go party, but in a format for IMAX screens with some bonus post-credits footage [38] [39] [115] [120]. Could the footage be a teaser for “Barbie: The Series”? Could “Barbie: The Series” lead to “Barbie 2” or “Ken” coming out in 2029 in honour of the 70th anniversary of the Barbie franchise [96]? Only time will tell. In the meantime, keep the pink recipes coming [5] [34] [71] [73] [85] [88] [92]! I think Wade Wilson is a little peeved about Oppenheimer beating the box-office record Deadpool 2 held for four years after being financially surpassed by Joker [36] [100] [119] [121], so I might as well get him to follow a recipe for pink tacos to treat himself [1]. Hopefully, after a little more income for Barbie: The Movie, the aftermath of the SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood will be meaningful [47] [90].

“Deadpool here! Don’t you just love a forced and unnecessary but deeply appreciated special guest appearance in an article that has very little to do with them? You know, I can be a good sport about being reduced to the third highest-grossing R-rated movie star of all time [119]. Go ahead and turn my silver Oscar into a bronze one, but when the strikes are over and Deadpool 3 is in production again [121], I might just have what it takes to make my beloved Oscar gold again next year (or two). Thanks for the suggestion, my little Laurapop! I’ll be off to make those pink Barbie-inspired tacos [1]!” [91]

Anytime, Deadpool! Surely, producing the best follow-up to Barbie: The Movie ought to be quite like a different skincare routine or baking the same cake with several differences in the recipe [95]. The loyal admirers of the film are thanked for the movie’s success, and they could be thanked for the motivation to produce a follow-up [28] [103] [116]. Speaking of lovely blonde-haired ladies in pink, many fans of Princess Peach cannot wait to play as her in a new dress that is the result of her retrieving a Bubble Flower in Super Mario Bros. Wonder [81] [128] [129]. Sometime afterwards, have a blast with the 60^th anniversary of the Doctor Who franchise [46]. [8]

Barbie: The Movie Coming To IMAX This September

Hi, reader! Barbie: The Movie has become one of the highest-grossing films of 2023 [8] [31] [33]. The live-action phenomenon based on the fashionable legacy of Mattel’s plastic starlet who debuted back in 1959 has received critical acclaim for its cheeky humour for the older part of its audience [2] [3], some other forms of humour, such as a parody of the iconic “Red or Blue pill?” scene from The Matrix [15] [25], outstanding acting [3], an imaginative fantasy land for Barbies and Kens to merge with doll logic in a carefree manner [27] [28], its fitting aspects of feminism and satire towards capitalism [3]. Due to the film’s success ever since its release in July alongside Oppenheimer [26] [33], it has been confirmed that the film will be re-released in IMAX this September [9], much like how some of us watched Oppenheimer in IMAX a while ago, including yours truly and her Ken [31]. Personally, I am aware of why not everyone is fond of IMAX as I would not recommend a similar experience of watching Oppenheimer in IMAX to those who have hearing sensitivities [17] [18] [22]. On a lighter note, there is a legitimate reason why Barbie: The Movie would be worth watching again [6], but in IMAX that will be explained as we put on our pink pumps and head back to Barbie Land for another party [3] [6] [20] [21]. 

Surely, just watching the film shortly after its standard release back in July was Kenough for plenty of us [27] [28]. Nevertheless, a certain aspect of the second release for IMAX is sure to boost the film’s credibility even further after its billion-dollar success [8] [9]. [27]

Aside from a little extra box-office income, the main reason for re-releasing Barbie: The Movie for IMAX next month is to exclusively feature a post-credits scene that was absent from the original theatrical release [9]. This confirmation has sparked my curiosity since my fiancé got me into sticking around during the credits sequence to see a post-credits scene at the end of a Marvel Cinematic Universe film several years ago [29]. What could the post-credit scene in Barbie: The Movie in IMAX be [9]? An extra goofy scene featuring Allan [3]? Some more cleaning up to do after a certain plot twist? A teaser for a television series set in Barbie Land and centred on further character developments for some other Barbies and Kens, which could be a wiser decision to make in terms of establishing a continuation, compared to a direct sequel [31] [33]? Whatever the post-credit scene could feature or tease, it will be quite a swell bonus feature for admirers of the film, even though not every film fan is fond of IMAX [11]. Moreover, one can always wait until the film comes out on DVD, which will hopefully feature the post-credit scene and make it only temporarily exclusive [9].

Personally, despite my curiosity about a proposed post-credits scene, I probably will not go and see Barbie: The Movie in IMAX this September as I have already seen it over a week after its standard release [31], along with how its IMAX release will only be available for a week [9], which could also apply to its release in the United Kingdom and I ought to save money. Nevertheless, the post-credits footage will hopefully be available on DVD in a couple of months after one week of the film’s credibility in IMAX. Hopefully, Barbie will not have to tell the audience to go home [13]. [27]

In conclusion, a second release of a high-grossing film for IMAX with a bonus post-credit scene that will only be around for a week sounds quite intriguing, not just for extra financial gain [9]. Although Greta Gerwig, the director and one of the writers of the film made a slight objection towards the idea for a direct sequel in a few years’ time [7] [10] [24], there is still some more potential for a sequel or a standalone spin-off film starring Ken with Ryan Gosling reprising his role to be at least passable or better yet, as exceptional and faithful to the original film with a balance of familiarity and freshness [31] [33]. In the meantime, if you want to keep using the Barbenheimer meme for creative wit [14] [33], make sure that none of the elements from Oppenheimer would be deemed insensitive to Japanese historians who wish to not relive the World War II era of anti-Japanese propaganda [4] [16] [19] [23]. As we continue to spread kindness and take consideration for others’ reactions aside from our own, we can proactively relish in the joy of the best films, video games and comics of 2023 and look forward to more experiences later this year and throughout 2024 [30] [32].

Barbie has been an icon primarily for little girls for sixty-four years and I am delighted that she has become the star of a high-grossing live-action film [2] [3] [33]. Aside from that, there is also an animated Netflix series titled “Barbie: A Touch Of Magic” that will co-star a new pet pony [1]. Outside of a pink paradise, let us wish the best of luck to our Fortnite fighters in the fourth season of the fourth chapter of Fortnite: Battle Royale [12]. [28]

Suggestions For “Barbie 2” Or “Ken” Already Being Unboxed

This is a follow-up article that briefly discusses some spoilers in Barbie: The Movie. Feel free to avoid reading this article if you are aiming to avoid spoilers unless you have already watched the film (or do not take spoilers too seriously). 

Hi, reader! I recall reading a few Barbie magazines as a child who also owned a few Betty Spaghetty dolls from McDonald’s [32] [33] [34] [40]. As an adult who was honoured to wish the plastic fashion icon a happy 60th anniversary four years ago [5] [68], I simply cannot help but be swooned by the ambitious marketing and box-office success of her lively live-action film that was set to be released alongside Oppenheimer [8] [37], resulting in the Barbenheimer meme that clashed two opposites together [26] [27]. Many of us have been asking, “Will there be a sequel to Barbie after it made over a billion dollars at the box office?” [8]. Despite Greta Gerwig’s objection to the idea of a sequel [74], chances are that she could suddenly gain some inspiration and motivation for writing and possibly directing “Barbie 2” after her involvement in the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves that is set to be released in 2024 [15]. Since it has been a week since we first discussed what could provide some potential for a sequel to Barbie: The Movie, along with what could hinder and decrease its credibility and why it would make more sense to establish the next film as a spin-off film starring “Ken” [74], let us expand on those discussions with how another alternative could be the better decision. 

While Oppenheimer has been praised for its gritty historical accuracy, auditory excellence in IMAX and faithfulness to being based on the biography written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin [37], which is known as “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” and was first published back in 2005 [12], Barbie: The Movie has been admired for its feminine vibrance and wittiness [8] [64] [65]. [24]

Of course, not all sequels have been masterfully faithful to the original with effectively fresh aspects [74], but there are some examples that did a continuation right, such as Toy Story 2, Finding Dory, Frozen II and Deadpool 2 [14] [16] [17] [57]. Moreover, do not forget to wear pink as we expand on how a follow-up to Barbie: The Movie could at least excel to some degree [39]. [66]

Despite the flak Helluva Boss has received for how several of its female characters have not gained as much credibility and depth as the leading male characters [20] [59] [79], I know that there is still plenty of female empowerment in fiction and character development for female characters to go around as those could apply to “Stereotypical” Barbie, eventually known as “Barbara Handler” in “Barbie 2” [8]. The prime example of this could be gradually excelling at a new occupation in a fairly male-dominant working environment [13] [54], such as a game development studio before a moment when she suddenly decides to become a doll in Barbie Land again, as contrived as that sounds. As important as feminism can still be in today’s society [30], there is nothing wrong with flourishing in femininity without excessive stereotyping [22]. It is possible for Barbie to still be a newly formed human being as she visits Barbie Land for old time’s sake as the CEO of Mattel and some of his colleagues did not automatically become Kens when tracking her down to Barbie Land [8], so chances are that the Ken who was quite smitten with her will become human as he finally finds his identity without the chaotic need of turning Barbie Land into Kendom again.

The Ken played by Ryan Gosling is also known as “Beach” Ken and he has the potential to redeem himself even further and eventually find his own identity without relying on his established role as Barbie’s significant other in a sequel or spin-off film [8] [60]. Perhaps his Mojo Dojo Casa House can return, but as an entirely separate building from Barbie’s Dreamhouse as a sign of Barbie Land becoming less matriarchal for all Kens. Tourist Ken could still be in a rivalry with “Beach” Ken [66], much like how Sonic the Hedgehog and Jet the Hawk are rivals in the Sonic Riders series [48]. Surely, some movie fanatics would still prefer the character progression of the Ken in Toy Story 3 [58] [60], but as previously mentioned, there is still the possibility of “Beach” Ken thinking of “Stereotypical” Barbie once again and finally having a sincere relationship with her, even after finding his own identity and possibly becoming a human to reside in the real world in either “Barbie 2” or “Ken”. Giving Ken a chance to become a human to reunite with Barbie would be a recycled conclusion [8], but it would still provide the same significance with a deep meaning, especially after enhancing a temporary antagonist’s likeability and redemption [60]. 

Ken has not been cancelled for the Ken dominance in Barbie Land that caused it to become Kendom and brainwash many Barbies as he and Barbie apologised to one another during the resolution [8] [11] [60]. In “Barbie 2” or “Ken”, Ken can show that he is more than just Ken [8]. I may point out physical handsomeness, but I also understand the importance of reasonable criticism and admire inner beauty, which is basically having a great personality [60] [64] [66]. Moreover, I shall root for Ken on the rest of the road to full-on redemption if I ever see a sequel, spin-off, or television series. After all, it is not all about how a character looks. [9]

Speaking of knowing that it is not all about how a character looks, I think Deadpool needs a vacation in Kenada during the strikes in Hollywood and the halt of the production of Deadpool 3 [14] [73] [74] [77] [78]. [63]

When it comes to expanding Barbie Land, possibly without tarnishing the deep meaning of “Stereotypical” Barbie’s ending by making her a doll again in a rather contrived way, the wisest decision could be simply establishing a short television series taking place after the events of the movie as an alternative to a sequel mostly likely to be titled “Barbie 2” [8] [74]. I would love to see some further exploration of Weird Barbie in one episode as she is a brilliant comic relief character [10] [65]. Another episode can focus on Barbie Land becoming fairer to all the Kens to prove that the whole concept of Barbie Land is not entirely misandristic, especially after some amends [8]. Furthermore, another episode could let Alan be the star and possibly form a romantic relationship with Midge…or Barbra Spears, according to a stop-motion experiment from eleven years ago [8] [56]. A live-action television series set after Barbie: The Movie ought to be quite like how Zootopia+ and Baymax! focus on other characters besides the main ones [61] [69] [70]. Moreover, it might as well be referred to as “Barbie Land” or “Barbie: The Series”, even if either would be just a mere working title, like “Sonic Wildfire” and “Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves” [23] [55]. 

I do not doubt that all the other Barbies’ lives in Barbie Land in plastic are fantastic [19] [36]. Perhaps a gaming console in Barbie Land could be called the “Pinktendo GameCute” and a handheld gaming system for the Barbies and Kens can be called the “Game Girl” [47] [68] [69] [70] [75] [76]. There could also be several picnics where tranquil tea parties occur. [46] Who knows? All three ideas for a follow-up to Barbie: The Movie could be put into action throughout the next ten years or more. After all, the movie made over a billion dollars this Summer [74]. [62]

Overall, there can be some potential to make “Barbie 2” (a chronological sequel starring “Stereotypical” Barbie), “Ken” (a spin-off film starring Ken) or “Barbie: The Series” (a television series starring a few other Barbies) a tolerable expansion several years after the stylish success of Barbie: The Movie [8] [74]. More necessarily, there ought to finally be a sequel to The Simpsons Movie released in 2027 [53], which can hopefully be a big and memorable closure to The Simpsons, leaving it to finally be put to rest after many signs of jumping the shark as plenty of us, including yours truly believe that the series should have ended after the releases of The Simpsons Movie and The Simpsons Game in 2007 [16] [41] [53] [67] [68]. After all, that is the message that Barbie aims to send to little girls [3] [7]. Barbara Millicent Roberts has inspired young girls for sixty-four years and she has come a long way since her debut in 1959 [4] [5]. 

Before we wrap things up like a birthday present, I am aware that the movie’s logo is the same as the one for the doll lines from 1977 to 1991 and the other one used in the collaboration with Stumble Guys is the one that debuted in 1959 and was brought back in 2009 during the franchise’s 50th anniversary [8] [29] [45] [50] [74]. Furthermore, I suppose the logo for “Barbie 2”, “Ken” or “Barbie: The Series” could be based on either the 1984 version or the 1989 version of the second-ever logo [29]. And speaking of logos, it is very fitting that Twitter is now referred to as “X” because I do not regret quitting that toxicity-infested platform [28]! I have every right to be angry at its nearly unsalvageable state throughout the last four years [42] [43] [44]. [29]

There will still be plenty of pink to go around after the success of Barbie: The Movie [8]. There is still a big demand to not milk the film into a franchise and it is completely understandable why [74]. Nevertheless, there could be some need for it to redeem Ken even further and make some use of billion dollars [8] [60]. In the meantime, Scott Pilgrim will be challenged to face the seven evil ex-partners of Ramona Flowers on Netflix this November [34]. Bye, reader! [66]
